It is very easy for a President to move rightward when there is always someone crazier and further right.

We are at a point where we are being asked to be grateful for SS and Medicare cuts as long as some revenue increases are involved.

You know, we used to use cutting Social Security and Medicare as the HYPERBOLIC, even comedic examples of the line in the sand that Democrats would never tolerate for capitulation.

Yet here we are, being groomed to accept this as the best deal we could get.

This is not a fight between Obama and Boehner. That is the tableau we are being fed. This is a fight to the death between all of us and the banks/corporate thieves that have infested both parties.

As long as we continue to rationalize and accept our own destruction because the "bad cop" would have destroyed us faster, we have no hope of stopping this takeover.

We need to take our party back.

2. Did the President put the Tea Party in control of the House
Edited on Sat Jul-23-11 12:14 PM by emulatorloo
or did the 2010 voters?

I agree with you that the tea party for the most part was manufactured. Fake grass roots, funded by billionaires.

The biggest player in their creation was the media, who promoted them, artificially inflated their numbers, and pretended as if their viewpoint was rational. The media who acted as if Sharon Angle was a credible candidate..

None the less they do exist, and they control the house.

That is the reality of the 2010 election.

We are seeing lots of "buyers remorse" in the States which elected Republican Governors and put their congresses under R control.

The basic political reality remains:

- 2010 election put a bunch of extremists in the house.
- Bills have to be passed by this house.
- The Republican Leadership have lost control of their members
- These house members are "True Beleivers"

These people are fanatics who are so ideological they are willing to do pretty much anything to create the teabagger utopia. Michele Bachmann is the poster child for this group - ignorant, rageful, and vengeful.

Your theoretical framework presumes some secret pack between Boehner and Obama to move the country to the right.

Even if this were true, you can't seem to fathom the degree to which the teaparty reps are calling the shots. They are the gatekeepers.

If the Dems had the House, NONE OF THIS WOULD BE HAPPENING. That is the bottom line. Pelosi House put through some excellent legislation.

I agree with you that we must push for more Liberals/Progressives in the Senate and the House. This should be our main focus.

But your theoretical framework is too lopsided.

Best Regards - emulatorloo.

3. I think you're right
The modern Republican Party and it's bastard child, the TEA PARTY are just useful surrogates for the bankers and corporatists. The main-stream Republicans weren't radical enough so the TEA Parties were formed to push the last, few remaining moderates over the edge.

and here we are...

the TEA PARTY A-HOLES are there to not to "praise the New Deal, but to bury it..." They believe in blowing up the economy to create their utopian conservative dream world of a perfect free market...just like Milton Friedman and Ayn Rand told them it would be.

They're traitors..every last one of them
