As much of a RW hack as David Gregory is...
He pretty much layed the blame at the Republicans' feet. He says that the situation requires spending cuts, and he says the President has offered plenty, but it also needs increased revenue, which the Republicans are willing to accept none.

This may be a good sign that the media may actually push the truth that this is primarily the Republicans' fault. Ya think? It remains to be seen, but I believe it is critically important that the American public get the truth from the media for a change rather than some idiotic Republican meme or talking (lying) point.

Boehner did nothing but lie, lie, lie in his little presser. He must be held to account for this debacle... the question remains, however, will the media do the right thing this time?

1. i don't know. wall street wants the debt ceiling raised and they have more power over
the MSM than the tea party or the right wing does. so we shall see what happens. they sure as hell don't want to see what happens if we crash and burn.

5. I honestly think Wall St doesn't give a rats ass
The Dow was down just 43 points today in spite of all the hoo hah over the dire consequences of a failure to raise the debt ceiling.

It looks like it may be a very real possibility that this is going to happen and they aren't panicking.

Leads me to believe that the consequences aren't near as dire as the liberal media would have us think.

IMO the whole thing is a big drama staged to get us to accept the recommendations of Obama's cat food commission.

4. Except for Buchannan I feel there is a certain level of...
PANIC entering into the media's consciousness. Some of them have more of a clue of what this means, that is default, than most Americans. I mean they have covered plenty of stories of other countries defaulting.

How interesting that a Repub is willing and smart enough to do that while "liberals" only clamor for the Democrats' heads. Or more correctly, the PRESIDENT'S head.

9. Not wanting the Dems/Prez to give away the farm...
Edited on Fri Jul-22-11 07:18 PM by Flubadubya
i.e. Medicare/Medicaid/SS, seems to me a far cry from wanting their "heads". Give the hyperbole a break buddy, please! :eyes:

I would dare say that those "liberals" you so readily bash have this country's better interest in mind and at heart than any Rethug anywhere, for Pete's sake!

Your supposition is pure :puke:, if not pure Re-:puke:

11. And yet, those "liberals that have the country's best interest in mind"
look for every reason to slam this president and the Dems while saying next to nothing about the Republicans. GD has been full for the last TWO WEEKS of nothing but "Obama caved!" "Obama sold us out!" "Dems suck!" while you can practically count on one hand the number of posts decrying the sheer depraved insanity of the repubs.

Wanna explain that? Since we're "buddies" and all?

12. If I have a beloved family member who is royally fucking up...
you bet I'm going to be harping at, and complaining about that loved one; most likely to the exclusion of expressing how I feel about that jerkwad at work who bugs the shit out of me.

It's only human nature to be more concerned about the behavior of those you are most akin to than those you are not.

Just let the Prez and those blue dog Dems start pushing for the actual benefit of their constituents, and you'd see all kinds of praise and adulation pouring forth from the "liberals" on DU for their leaders. Meanwhile, it's so much more troubling to see the wolves in sheep's clothing tearing down your revered institutions than those attacking it from the outside. Moreover, when you have the Democratic party dying from within, you realize how terribly vulnerable it is to the "depraved insanity of the repubs"... and you should know, we'll never reform the rethugs, so who are we going to try to persuade?

By the way, it's just nonsensical to always defend the indefensible... and boy do I see a lot of that around here buddy... oh, sorry, I guess that doesn't really work, does it?

8. IMHO, Boehner's behavior is close to being considered traitorous

If he's willing to letting this country go into default by not being willing to increase revenues. He's acting against the best interests of the country
