The reason Boehner left.
"In the end, we couldn't connect," Boehner wrote. "Not because of different personalities, but because of different visions for our country. The president is emphatic that taxes have to be raised. The president is adamant that we cannot make fundamental changes to our entitlement programs."

25. No cuts to benefits would be ok. I'll keep an eye out for the transcript too but please do
come back and post it here.

That thing was moving so fast that, admittedly, there may be some things that were missed.

16. Why would he lie?
His statement confirms what OBAMA has been saying for 3 years, and disproves what DU has been saying for the past few months.

Deal.

7. There are a few people here who are convinced
Obama has a different goal in mind.

I wonder if Boehner's quote could be pasted to the top of this GD discussion page. Would be an interesting reminder for trolls as to where their conjecture begins and where Boehner's reality lies.

I'm not doing any victory laps until a bill is passed that has zero cuts to entitlements, but I like hearing this. A lot.

28. Norquist/Tealiban/Koch Bros threatened him re: raising taxes
What a whiney little weasel.

Furthermore, the president is NOT adamant that fundamental changes to entitlements cannot be made. He was willing to unjustifiably CUT those programs to accommodate the Tealiban.

But that's not enough for their incessantly greedy asses. The Tealiban wants those programs GONE. And they want NO TAXES to be paid by anyone but the middle class and poor. That is what Obama didn't agree to - - though I would not be surprised if he did, eventually.
