No one knows what the final deal on the Debt Limit will be..I don't.
Right now, it don't look good. ok. That is the truth.
But no one talks to me about it, and I doubt anyone here at DU is in on it.
Sure we have seen a lot of stories, and lots of posts.
I have posted too..But,...
I will leave it to the experts and those who are on our side to protect our interests and those we care about.

Bernie is there, and some other fine people too.
When it is over, we will all see the truth.
At least for today, we do not know the end game.
We think we see it, but that can change and often does change.

thanks if you read this.

1. Being above it all is not the answer though,
Granted, we have nothing solid saying exactly what will be in the final deal.

But we are, as with lots of legislation, being offered up lots of trial balloons, which are designed to gauge the feeling of people. Will the people accept this, with they reject that, it is a typical political ploy.

It is important to make our feelings known now, not just on these trial balloons, but on what is being discussed in general. These are, after all, our representatives, it is their job to represent our wishes, and thus we have to make those wishes known.

Thus, sitting back, waiting for a done deal is counterproductive, for in the absence of any input from the public, our representatives will have the perfect excuse to come up with whatever draconian deal they want.

I just called Mark Kirk's Chicago office.
Same thing, told his office person
not to cut SS, Medicare, or Medicade.

at least I tried....that's it for me.

4. +1. It's damn important to respond. The trial balloons are indicative of what direction the talks
are leaning.

Now is not the time to be passive and hope people work on our side. Right now the only people discussing anything are Obama, Boehner and Eric Cantor. Do you trust any of that group to really fight for the non-elite?

2. Final deal, hell, I don't even know what the President's position is on it
My guess is if you listen to what the republicans want (massive cuts to SS/Medicare, lifetime tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy), you will hear what the final deal will be.
