Hyatt apologizes for turning heatlamps on strikers
http://www.msnbc.com/id43856785/ns/weather I'm sorry, I don't know why the link won't work but the gist of the story is that a manager at a Hyatt hotel in Chicago turned on heatlamps on striking employees when the heat index was 90 degrees this morning. Sicko. I guess this is what we've come to. The story said the workers have been without a contract for two years.

1. Must've been an 'accident'. Some lowly employee will get blamed.
Or fired.

5. Better than that -- a manager who was retiring and Friday was his last day...
Hyatt said that the decision to turn on the heaters was made by a manager. "It was clearly a decision that was not in line with our values or with our corporate policies," the statement said. Hyatt said this was an "isolated incident" and would not be repeated.

The manager responsible for the decision was scheduled to retire, and Friday was to be his last day, said Farley Kern, vice president of corporate communications, in a e-mail. "If that hadn't been the case, we would have taken corrective action matching the seriousness of the conduct," Kern wrote.

4. Since pickets are on public sidewalks
the Hyatt needs to pay a stiff fine.

10. Wow... BS like that led to the rise of Jimmy Hoffa...
Don't get me wrong, im not saying getting your head bashed in is the same as a heatlamp...

Just saying cruel behavior like that should HOPEFULLY give birth to a modern day Jimmy.

11. Call em and let them know your disgust...
<c/p>For information regarding reservations at any Hyatt hotel in India, please contact your nearest Hyatt Worldwide Reservations Centre or from the U.S. and Canada, call 1-800-323-7249.

I told the rep I would never goto a Hyatt again and that I hope some lawyer sues the company and it hits their bottom line.. I also prefaced my comment by saying that I realized she had nothing to do with it and that my disgust was not directed at her...

She seemed to appreciate the call, said they had been receiving a lot of feedback, and she would be happy to forward my comments.. and that there would be an investigation blah blah
