Could, should, would, maybe, might, might not, I heard, but...I think...

God it's getting tedious.

2. I know. So why the fuck doesn't he come out and actually STAND for core Dem principles
on SS, Medicare and Medicaid?

Why does he buy into Rethug framing tying the debt ceiling negotiations to the Big 3?

Why isn't he crystal clear on pushing for a clean debt ceiling bill, without obfuscating the reality of how little SS, Medicare and Medicaid factor into the debt ceiling talks?

Why does he want to appear to be such a weak negotiator?

3. Problem is, when he stands for principles, people around here insist that he's not.
When people jump on faith-based smear bullshit, facts don't matter.

7. Obama has openly stated he's open to cuts in negotiations over the debt ceiling.
So he's abandoning core Dem principles, no bullshit.

That's a fact. He's purposefully opened the door to altering the Big 3 in this discussion.

How is that "faith based smear bullshit"?

23. When in strategic discussions....
...how often do you discuss your strategies out loud or publically with millions of people, while trying to keep your cards close to your chest? Lets use chess...how many moves are you going to list on a scratch piece of paper and hand to your opponent?

I'm not sure what people want here.....the Reps to have ALL the info?

That qualifies as smear bullshit.

10. oh bullshit. He's been very open that Dems in Congress need to suck. it. up.
And give on the Big 3. He's openly stated he's willing to trade away alterations and tax hikes on the rich to get the debt ceiling deal done.

His trial balloons are despicable. I am sick of it. He's not ignored. NOBODY is ignoring him or his despicable trial balloons. Even my die-hard Rethug mother who believes Sarah Palin is "lovely!!11111" is paying attention to this.

12. When has Obama faced a camera and said "Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid are off
the table. The poor and middle classes have shouldered enough of the sacrifice; it's time for the wealthy and corporations to pay their fair share." WHEN did he say that, KittyWampus? When has he strongly and publicly denounced the GOP coddling of the elite and corporate classes? When has he said that this whole debt "crisis" is a charade (which it is) and that SS contributes NOTHING to the deficit? When??

34. Thank you for correcting my spelling without being judgemental
Six years of German with no place to use it has not served me well. If only I had enrolled in Spanish classes but Lutheren private school did not offer that option.

36. "If German was good enough for Martin Luther, it's good enough for me."
Edited on Fri Jul-22-11 02:35 AM by Adsos Letter
So said the father of one of my old History professors who was, himself (the father), a published scholar of Martin Luther at a Lutheran Seminary in the upper midwest; hence, his insistence that his kids learn to speak German around the house. :D

PS: wasn't intentionally trying to correct your spelling; Sturm und Drang was an often used phrase around here when my daughters reached the age when "boys" entered the picture. :D :hi:

EDIT: moved a smilie.

Yep, pretty much. It may be good, it may be bad but speculation is all that it is. When I have some actuall facts to go on, meet me over at the jumping house. In the mean time, I don't intend to get an anurisim over speculation.
Do I like Obama? No
Do I trust him to do the right thing? No
Do I think he's a sellout? Hell yes!

Am I going to get my undies in a bunch whenever someone on DU posts an opinion? I think not. Sorry, been around too long and I've seen how things can change.

Do I think Obama is a corporate whore? Yes. What else could he be? He is in charge of our country and corporations are in charge of him. So, tell me something I don"t know.

Did you really expect the people who rule the world to allow you to elect FDR?

Sorry, not going to happen. See Rupert Muddoch..
You/we are already fucked but like the frog in the pot, we have not figuired it out yet.

20. +100!!!
Way too much crying and wailing over pure rumor and innuendo.

I guess the motto is "Never let facts get in the way of a good story."

And if the "story" involves trashing the President, or accusing him of going against the interests of the people, well, that seems to please more than a few.

I just don't understand it. This is "Democratic" Underground? Sometimes it has a decidedly different odor.

24. Quite right.
I just wish people wouldn't fly off the handle without any facts in support of their pet theses.

It seems that lately, there have been an excess of "Sound the alarm!" type posts, without any substance to them whatsoever.

The debate is great, when there's something besides a rumor to discuss.

I'm sorry you're bored or whatever. I wish I was bored instead of scared, frustrated, and appalled. I'll stop complaining when Obama stops doing things to complain about. Good luck getting everyone to stop with the tedium. They have as much right to speak as you do to kevetch about it.

32. Do you really believe he'll stand up to the GOP, when his own Senators are for it?
THEY WILL PASS THIS.

You know it, I know it.

So quit acting like this guy is finally going to find his fucking backbone after 30 months of caving over and over and over again. Not gonna happen. He'll pass it and then try to say "I had no choice.....", and all of Barack Obama's willingly-blind fanboys will still have their stupidass idea that this guy is working for them and not the moneyed interests.

You're gonna get your Medicare and SS cut. Why? Because the American people elected a liar, a fraud, a spineless Manchurian candidate who cares more about making his payday after this is over than on doing what is right for the American people. Yeah, Congress doesn't help. But if he had hammered the GOP into doing the right thing in 2009 and 2010, he wouldn't have a Republican House.

This man needs to be removed from the Presidency, and America has to stop this insanity by any means they possibly can. Otherwise, future generations will look at the inaction ans day "How dare you. How dare you let it all happen." And what will the apologists say then? If there is any justice, it'll be them sitting down and shutting the fuck up until the end of time.

And what I believe is irrelavent. All I am really saying is that jumping up and down at every speculation as to what he is doing or what he is not doing i s getting silly and a real waste of energy. But go ahead! Jump up and down. The only thing that really matters is do you/ can you, affect it in the next election? Everything else is bullshit.
