Poll: 77 Percent Believe DOJ Should Investigate News Corp.; 73 Percent Believe Hacking Occurred In US
July 21, 2011 1:40 pm ET by MMFA Staff

On July 20, one day after Rupert and James Murdoch testified before Parliament about the ongoing hacking scandal in their U.K. papers, Survey USA polled 1200 adults about their feelings about News Corp. and the scandal. They found:

77 percent of those polled stated that the Department of Justice should investigate to see if News Corp. broke any laws in America. 75 percent of independents answered this way.
73 percent said they felt it likely that similar hacking activities occurred at Murdoch's news outlets in the United States; 42 percent said they believe it to be "very likely." Additionally, 69 percent of independents stated they believe similar activity in the US to be likely.
A plurality of 45 percent said they believe Rupert Murdoch to be dishonorable, with 40% of independents believing this.
