I understand why many poor and disenfranchised people no longer vote.
Edited on Wed Jul-20-11 09:14 PM by mmonk
I've really come to understand their frustration this last decade. I think many were fooled into voting in large numbers in 2008 thinking their lot might improve. I don't think we'll see that again for awhile. I think DC in some regards is lost in its bubble and its corporate political advisors. If there is to be a change in the counter revolution of the last 30 years, it will have to begin locally from the ground up. Problem is, new Republican legislatures are further stacking the deck against the people in legislation and gerrymandering.

2. They should vote 3rd party, so they can feel really righteous
about having nothing left to lose except for everything!

We've seen that before.

13. If I vote for Obama again, am I smug, arrogant and an "Obamabot"? Is everyone
who votes for him that? Or are you just insulting Frenchie?

9. Real people are hurting and have no voice.
You can call it what you want to. But as a family that helps with the poor through Catholic Parrish Outreach and with persons of learning disabilities, what they are going through is anything but righteous.

10. Might be a good idea,
but I don't think we're suppose to advocate that on this forum.

8. I think many don't care anymore, hopelessness and despair do that, and
I fear many will be joining their ranks, because there is no esprit de corps to voting this time around, and they expected much different. They will not be climbing out of the woodwork to vote IMO.

11. I understand why they feel that way but don't think not voting will help anything.
I understand the frustration, but if you don't try, if you don't vote, then you are responsible for the outcome anyway. Not voting IS a choice and all choices have outcomes.
