4. I'd be one happy camper to see all those t people go home ..
I am thinking even in the depths of the reddest districts..their tactics is going to leave a lot of people cold.

5. 35. Not more, I'm afraid.
The census shift, an enraged -- and engorged -- GOP base, and the historical trend for a second-term Presidential election is about +16 seats for the President's party. I'll double that.

6. Any predictions for the Senate. I saw some numbers a while ago that were dire....
...because of the large number of Dems up for re-election in 2012.

18. As to the Senate:
The Retiring members of the Democratic Caucus are:
Joe Lieberman of Connecticut (should be succeeded by a REAL Democrat)
Daniel Akaka of Hawaii (Again, should be safe for Democrats)
Jeff Bingaman of New Mexico
Kent Conrad of North Dakota
Jim Webb of Virginia
Herb Kohl of Wisconsin

Democrat Caucus members seeking reelection: (17 seats)
Dianne Feinstein of California
Tom Carper of Delaware
Bill Nelson of Florida
Ben Cardin of Maryland
Debbie Stabenow of Michigan
Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota
Claire McCaskill of Missouri
Jon Tester of Montana
Ben Nelson of Nebraska (I wouldn't miss him at all)
Bob Menendez of New Jersey
Kirsten Gillibrand of New York
Sherrod Brown of Ohio
Bob Casey, Jr. of Pennsylvania
Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island
Bernie Sanders of Vermont
Maria Cantwell of Washington
Joe Manchin of West Virginia

Republicans retiring (2 seats)
Jon Kyl of Arizona
Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas

Republicans seeking re-election (8 seats)
Richard Lugar of Indiana
Olympia Snowe of Maine (Probably primaried by Tea Party)
Scott Brown of Massachusetts (The Democrats should be able to pick up this seat)
Roger Wicker of Mississippi
Dean Heller of Nevada
Bob Corker of Tennessee
Orrin Hatch of Utah (Definitely being primaried by Tea Party)
John Barrasso of Wyoming

22. So we basically have twice as many seats in play as the Republicans....
...and a split results in a net loss for the Dems. Much work to be done.

Herb Kohl's seat here in Wisconsin is a good example. Many think Russ Feingold will run for Governor, not Herb's seat. Tammy Baldwin is much touted - and a well deserving candidate - but may be unelectable.

8. Too early to tell.
Much will depend on how well we do in getting people educated and to the polls. If I were depending on reading DU, I wouldn't be very optimistic. Fortunately, I know lots of people in my area who will be out there doing just that.

9. I would guess Repubs would lose about 30 seats?
Meaning a 60-vote turnaround and Democrats would control House by a comfortable margin. That would be my guess today.

10. I don't know how many the Republics will lose.
But hopefully at least 25 or so. Of course, 200 would be better. ;-)

a giant sinkhole to hell opens at the most opportune time: taking them all to visit Old Scratch for an eternity.

can we elect some real Democrats this time?

Another cycle with a bunch of DLC Blue Dogs will do little, if any good.

15. Not as many as you think because the GOP captured several blue
leaning states in 2010 and the districts will be drawn to solidify the seats they currently have...

16. Considering that they won't eat their peas . . . over a hundred.
Pea lovers all across this great land of ours are extremely upset that the Republicants in the House will not sit down and just "eat their peas."

Ohioans will throw Boehner to the dawgs next year.
You watch, the GOP has kicked a giant sleeping dawg, the Democrats who used to have decent jobs in all those states with Republican dictators for Governors.
The Democrats aren't going to take this lying down.
They went too far during this last year.

There is no mystery, Scott Walker is history in Wisconsin.
The blowback will be enormous next year!!

Hell, Rick Scott has almost ensured that Florida will toss out many of their GOP House members next year, all by his lonesome.

19. None
Because it would be so very, very wrong for Democrats to run against the Republicans on their horrible record of the last two years. It also wouldn't be bipartisan, and the Ghost of David Broder would rise up and haunt us all for not playing nice.

Then they can pose as defenders of those programs just as they successfully did in 2010.
