Giuliani: Do not rush to judgment about Murdoch over hacking scandal
Edited on Fri Jul-15-11 05:16 AM by Tx4obama

(CNN) -- Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani is urging observers not to rush to judgment about mogul Rupert Murdoch over the alleged hacking scandal embroiling his News Corp. media empire.

"Give people the presumption of innocence," Giuliani told CNN's Candy Crowley in New Hampshire on Thursday. "I think that just how high up it goes is a big question and one we shouldn't be jumping to conclusions about."

Murdoch and Giuliani are longtime friends. Murdoch attended the former mayor's wedding in 2003, and endorsed him in the 1993 mayoral race.

Also, a law and lobbying firm in which Giuliani is partner received $100,000 in lobbying fees from News Corp. in 2005, according to congressional disclosure filings.

13. It's CEOs jobs to keep their house in order
"I think that just how high up it goes is a big question and one we shouldn't be jumping to conclusions about."

Bullshit. It'd be one thing if this were some localized/contained employee indiscretion, but this is hugely widescale at one of his largest properties (run directly by his son). This was literally News of the World's modus operandi for years. Plausible deniability don't cut it. And neither does the "I don't know/I don't recall" bullshit tactic that's a favorite of the Ollie Norths and Donald Rumsfelds of the world. If they truly "don't know" or "don't recall" that much shit, they are incredibly inept and unfit for their job (for even an office gopher, much less a CEO/high ranking official). If they do know and do recall (and were, more than likely, directly involved), but are laying that claim...well, then they're lying (which, under oath, is perjury...which was supposed to be pretty serious shit, last I heard).

15. Exactly. Like the time NYC cops shot Amado Diallo 41 times in front of his house.
...even though he was unarmed and hadn't done anything to them.

Of course, the police are innocent. To fascists, authority always is innocent.

16. He gets the presumption of innocence when he goes ON TRIAL.
Not until then. Sure, I'll wait for the facts, but the fact is, the acorn doesn't fall far from the damn tree. Murdoch created and promoted the culture that did this crap; it's pretty damn disingenuous of him now to protest his innocence or talk about bad apples.
