MUMBAI/ DELHI: Union home minister P Chidambaram has confirmed the use of ammonium nitrate in the Wednesday terror strike in Mumbai. He said the attacks were well coordinated but refused to confirm at this stage which terror group was behind the attack.

Hours after Chidamabaram's statement, union home secretary RK Singh briefing media persons in Delhi, said that the IEDs used for blasts in Mumbai were not crude and showed a certain degree of sophistication.

The home secretary also gave details of the places were the bombs were kept by the terrorists.

The bomb at Opera House was hidden under garbage while at Dadar, it was placed over a bus shelter, he said. At Zaveri Bazar, the bomb was concealed under an umbrella near a motorcycle, he added.

NEW DELHI: India on Thursday said the foreign minister-level talks with Pakistan will take place as scheduled, a day after the Mumbai blasts which, it said, were a "grim reminder" that terror was a "continued" threat to the country.

"They are (on schedule). There is no change in the scheduled visits of (US) secretary (Hillary) Clinton or the foreign minister of Pakistan," external affairs minister SM Krishna told reporters when asked whether the India-Pakistan foreign minister-level talks were on schedule.

He condemned the "dastardly and heinous attacks on Mumbai" and said that the State will do everything within its power to bring the guilty to justice at the earliest.

"This is yet another grim reminder to everyone in this region and our country that terror is a continuing threat to India and it is necessary for all Indians to be ever vigilant of these terrorist attacks," he said.
