I Just Emailed Sherrod Brown...And This Is What i Said....
Dear Senator Brown:

I am writing to implore you to step forward loudly and boldly in the defense of this nations middle class and retired citizens.

I am a life-long resident of Ohio. I was born and raised in Cleveland, as was my wife. We have lived in Dayton and now reside in Columbus.

I am U.S. Military veteran of the Viet-Nam era, and the father of two adult daughters, who have both completed their college education.

I was forced to 'retire early' at age 62 as a result of Washington playing the same game with un-employment benefit extensions that is now being played with the deficit negotiations and the pathetic economy, after having been unemployed for over a full year. Although I continue to seek full time employment, my hopes of returning to the Information Technology field (which allowed me to provide for my family for many years) are fading as I watch our government continue to let American jobs be out-sourced and off-shored to other countries.

And I ask myself WHY?

WHY are the middle class and the 'Baby Boom' generation no longer wanted or needed by the very country we helped to bring into the 21st century?

WHY are our elected leaders not listening to the voices of the people?

The current situation in Washington is no longer acceptable. The political games being played at the expense of the citizens are not what we sent you, or your fellow members of our joint Congress, to Washington to do.

We sent all of you there to do the NATIONS business, not cater to the wills and whims of Big Business, Big Banks, or Big Buck Contributors.

I ask you, Senator Brown, to step onto the floor of the Senate Chamber and in front of any and all media, and call out, by name, those within the Joint Congress who are bent on destroying our country for the sake of political points, 15 minutes of fame and large corporate donations.

I ask you, Senator Brown, to speak with our President and ask him:

WHY has he turned a deaf ear to the will of the people?

WHY has he installed so many to positions of responsibility who have in past efforts taken action that was not in the best interests of our nation?

WHY has he so grossly under estimated the magnitude of the recession?

WHY has he continued to deal with people who have shown no desire to be about the nations business?

WHY has he not put forth a realistic job plan?

I and my wife have sacrificed, Senator Brown.

Countless jobs...Numerous retirement accounts in order to save our home as a result of repeated un-employment...Our very home as a result of repeated un-employment and the need to care for an elderly terminally ill parent.

And now we are being asked to sacrifice still more.

Our Social Security...Our Health Care...Our Short-Term future and the Long Term future of our children and grand-children.

I ask you , Senator Brown.

What Is It About The Current State of Our Union That None Of You In Washington Seem To Understand?

What Is It About Millions Of People Without...Jobs...Healthcare...Savings...Homes...Food...That None Of You In Washington Seem To Understand?

NOW! Is the time to step forward loudly and boldly and say ENOUGH!

If you don't, along with like-minded colleagues, in both the House and Senate, I fear that the landscape of America will be changed in a way that will damage this nation for the rest of time.

I am watching, Senator Brown, as are millions of other retirees, baby boomers and countless citizens to see if there is anyone left in Washington who has the spine left to do the NATIONS business.

It is no longer enough to be a Democrat...the time now calls for being a Patriot!

Thing MUST change and they MUST change NOW!

We can no longer afford to wait until tomorrow, or next week, or next month, or next year.

The devil is at the door and he is breathing the fire of our national destruction.

We are watching Senator Brown, not just you, but ALL of you.

In the White House, the Senate and the House.

WE sent you there to do the nations business based on the will of the people.

If the nations business is not done, then rest assured, WE WILL BRING YOU HOME!

3. Great letter to Sherrod Brown! I hope you get a positive reply!
I understand where you are coming from. I was forced to retire early as was my husband. Neither of us wanted to retire. We wanted to work for a few more years because we surely could. That was not to be for a variety of reasons, one of which was age discrimination.

Why are workers put on the junk pile when they are still very able to be working? why is age discrimination even justified? Why are we the first ones out of a job layoff?

It is not fair and it is not right. We both earned our right to have our jobs. It was unfair and discriminatory that we were laid off (or in my case threatened with lay offs if I didn't resign, which I eventually did).
