Obama Seems Like A DU'er Who Goes To Freeperland & Attacks From The Right
Edited on Wed Jul-13-11 10:12 AM by KittyWampus
Thereby sowing dischord. It's kind of like reverse Ratfucking. I'll call it Pubfucking.

With the Deficit, he's got his eyes to the Election and ripping that issue from the Republicans grubby little greedy hands.

Like he did with the MIlitary in getting serious and finally taking Osama bin Laden down.

We all know the Republicans aren't serious about reducing the Deficit. They LOVE the deficit because the interest paid on it helps out the Banks.

That is why Obama is talking about reducing the Deficit. It's because he's gone into their camp and is attacking them from the inside.

This is how he manages to keep moving the ball steadily but very slowly to the Left despite extreme intransigence on the Republican side.

1. He's done that in court cases too, which ended up being decided in our favor.
I can't remember which one it was but one time he took the argument to it's extreme and folks were shocked. But then the RW court couldn't go with the RW argument. It was brilliant.

2. I wish that ball were moving towards the Left, but the results of the 2010 elections say otherwise.
I wouldn't have a problem with how he was moving the ball steadily towards the left if I had proof that this was happening.

I thank heavens Obama has been the one appointing two judges to the SC instead of a Repub, but did he move the court towards the left or more towards the right from its previous position with his two appointments?

3. I'll help you...
The 2010 elections were expected. It was retributive on the part of right-wingers for his election.

To your first point, do the WI recalls indicative of this trend or is this too localized? I'd offer that as proof that 2010 was nothing more than retributive in its stake and the voters of WI are an indicator.

To your second point, more left. He needs one more to finish the job of removing the conservative majority. I don't think this will happen on his watch, although I believe that a second term will allow him to maintain the 5-4 split as one more liberal justice seems likely to retire. I offer as proof that the 5-4 split exists in every controversial decision and always along liberal/conservative lines.

6. Thanks. I like the WI recalls, but does that offset this year's strong anti-worker push?
The results in OH, IN, FL, and elsewhere show the states are succeeding with their push to the far right.

I hope you're right about the SC, but Obama's appointees, while better than a Republican's, seem to move the court further right than before the retirements.

7. I think buyers remorse is on the way for all of those you mentioned.
Wisconsin is just the tip of the iceberg, there's quite a few state level instances where the push is not from the electorate, rather the politicians themselves who, and this is critical, basically lied about what they were going to do when they were placed in office and went with the interests of wealth. There really hasn't been much of an actual anti-worker push by the electorate aside from the usual republican anti-union astroturfing.

Note about the Supreme Court that a justice is generally free to vote their opinion free of electoral politics, that the SC has consistently delivered 5/4 splits along expected lines, indicating very little movement left or right from Bush, stationkeeping in this scenario is a good thing, it means that ground hasn't really been lost. Maybe the justice appointments are more moderate, but this is to be expected considering the makeup of Congress. Truly liberal appointments are very difficult when you don't have party majority helping you out.
