Obama is flat out sharp.
Not only did he shut down all the rethugs, he is li8kely to get a clean debt ceiling vote. In addition, he has reinvigorated the arguments against consolidation of wealth and power. Getting us to shove him in the direction he WANTS to go. All this will culminate into mass voting by all those with heads now installed in the guillotine block. I foresee a turning. To include portions of legal culpability of those that have thusfar escaped fully.

Are we still on the hapless Obama phase of sniveling? When will the public get that this is politics. This is not Dr. Phil. The view, or even Mr Rogers.

What is allowing the pres to lead these hogs with a nose ring? Their insular fashion of poo-pooing all media but their beloved Fox. They dont see anything comin'.

Wrote a song about it, and it goes like this.

3. Oh yes - sharp enough to stab democrats in the back
and whatever you want to believe about us shoving him anywhere. He's as stubborn as a mule toward his base and he will only go where his centrist heart leads him.

His passionate heart is the one he will reveal, with a fresh mandate.

6. He'll be re-elected but not for the reasons you think.
Any republican vs Obama will get him elected, it will be voting against a republican not voting for Obama.

12. thats the difference. you're convinced he's going to screw with these programs, i haven't been
convinced of that.

from reading DU, you'd think he's going to decimate these programs and the senate's going to happily sign off on it.

15. So IF means yes to you?
I was never under the impression he was going to decimate these programs but he will use them as a barganing tool and there will be changes made, he said so himself and he said he knows he's going to piss off democrats in the process. Since he knows that he's going to piss us off I don't see why the "Obama can do no wrong" supporters here can't get that through their heads.

20. Speculate? So are you under the impression that he didn't mean what he said
yesterday? I'll be thrilled if he backs down and this is speculation but I thought he tied it up nicely if a little vaguely.

He isn't being progressive if he wants to increase the Medicare age to 67 or muck around with Republicans in the name of "reforming" social security. If this is part of a grand strategy to ultimately get to a "clean" debt ceiling vote, I'm missing it. He'll lose a lot of progressive and senior Dem support if he does those things.

9. Polls show that the greater % of the american people side with Obama in the debt talks
and they think he is the adult in the room. Its only the small minorities on either side, who make the most noise, that are getting the attention in the media, but they do not speak for the majority of americans.

14. If it were a clean vote, it would be to deny the raising of the debt ceiling. No way the
republicans will vote to raise the debt ceiling, deal or no deal on the debt reduction.

37. I gotta tell ya, I am a gloomy gus as well. But every time, I call it.
Read my history of writings here. I calls it. I am getting a real feel for the electorate. The mood. Their worries and freakouts.

The opportunities that come to a forthright man, to act forthrightly will continue. The Rethugs will prove petulant, time and again.

I have called the general end of relevance for Rethugs for some time. But, that is a long term project of mine. And I have zero feel for calling dates. Or timeframes.

36. I fully well understand this is "politics."
I also fully well understand this is politics by a man who appointed banking and financial bigwigs to government positions, has talked endlessly of "compromise" and didn't use any of the political capital he earned after his election to push for any of the more progressive policies for which he was supposedly in favor.
