Former Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) is running for office again.
WFTV says that former Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) is running for office again.

"Grayson may not be running for his old seat with redistricting under way right now, he may end up running for a newly created seat for Orlando. It's still to early to know who he will be running against."

4. Fuck yes
I have known it since he lost. I stayed on his mailing list and it was obvious he has been dying to get back in congress. I just hope he runs in a reasonable district that isn't as conservative as his last one.

6. Is it likely he'd win in this new district?
I don't know how Orlando politics is made up.

9. here's his old district - Dist 8 - it's tony Wintah Pahk + airport +rural god-fearing territory
Edited on Mon Jul-11-11 06:14 PM by nashville_brook
it's been thoroughly gerrymandered to include only rich white people and rural rich white people, and a few rural poor white people. in other words, a Republican wet dream. that he won this in the first place is insanity.

The upper part of the district is known for thoroughbred horse raising...b/c of the mineral spring water. it's gorgeous up there, but very conservative. The lower bend contains a part of town called Belle Isle which is new-ish estates on lakes, and the chunk that comes back up to Conway and beyond contains Winter Park (old estates and Rollins College) and the airport/downtown district which is gentrifying young professionals and families. The chunk that's bit out is the historical racially diverse part of Orlando...but that has changed since this was drawn, with many people of color moving out to the suburbs.

 TMI, probably.

11. Great news. Here in Mid-Michigan Diane Byrum lost to Mike Rogers by 111 votes,
and then never ran again. I never understood that. So good for Grayson getting right back in the game. :patriot:

13. I'm on his email list and he's been communicating a lot lately
I'm sure he's running again. As soon as he was on some show recently I knew he was going to run. I hope he gets elected. We need his loud voice.

14. Well, That's The BEST News I've Heard Outta Florida For A Very Long Time!
Living here SUCKS worse than it ever SUCKED! I so wish he would have won last time around. Still, with all the Congress Critters leaning RIGHT, he'll still have a hard row to hoe!

Where I live, it's been RED forever and will probably ALWAYS be RED! I couldn't name a Democrat who's ever won an election around here. Although Obama did actually campaign here in '08 which was very, very unusual. He was the FIRST candidate who ever actually came to this county because it has ALWAYS been a Repuke haven!

Go, Grayson, the country needs 1,000 of you or more!

15. Are the Florida districts set yet?
They'll put him in with another Democrat in a heavily republican district. Triple mess.

16. Once he presents a plan I'm donating. Him and Kucinich will probably be the only politicians I

donate to this cycle. Maybe whoever runs against my local asshole local rep, Paul Broun Jr. ... if a promising challenger emerges.
