Our newspaper has a column where readers can ask for assistance in getting answers to troublesome questions. From today's edtion:

QUESTION — Our daughter is in the Weld County Jail, and she’s being treated very badly. She only gets out of her cell twice a day, because the male guard doesn’t like to guard women and so he ignores them. I was treated better than that when I was in the same jail, and so was our son.

ANSWER — It’s so nice when a family can share experiences, like vacations or fishing trips or going to the zoo, or camping out ... or jail. According to Weld County sheriff’s spokeswoman Margie Martinez, the men and women in the separated jail sections have “general population areas” with tables and chairs and open areas where they can socialize most of the day, outside their cells. The exceptions are prisoners who have caused problems, have threatened suicide or have specific medical needs that would confine them to their cells most of the time. Perhaps your daughter falls into one of those categories.
