The people around me at work and home have NO idea there is a huge crisis facing us
and quite honestly, they could care less.

I was asked a question yesterday, and it was a simple question;

"How will this affect me?"

I couldn't answer, because I don't know, NO ONE knows. Anyone who says they know is speculating.

Dinner table issues are the most important to America, and those issues are jobs, jobs, jobs, and BOTH parties have failed miserably in takig care of the issues most important to America.

1. I know what you mean. It seems to me nobody is paying attention.
When I try to discuss, eyes glaze over and I feel like I'm talking to Wilson.

4. I have friends who say the are liberal,

but then give me the "I'll be dead in thirty years so I don't care" nonsense.

It's just stunning the way some people couldn't give a shit about anybody but themselves.

2. There is no intention to do anything to fuel job growth so other issues are fought over.

3. It's huge alright
and that's why hitting the debt ceiling will never transpire. Even the plutocrats who run everything have too much to lose by allowing it to happen. I firmly believe that repugs in Congress - as we speak - are getting their marching orders to NOT allow the US government to hit the debt ceiling, accompanied with threats of a sudden jump in the need for body bags in DC.

5. I think the most important issue is jobs. Creating jobs will cost money.
End of conversation.

I don't know if it's that people don't care or if it isn't more that nagging fear of the unknown raising its ugly head.

6. Not here either. No one is paying attention and if I discuss current political events
they immediately get glassy eyed and start yawning.

7. Once again, it's by design. We have Casey Anthony and...
...Dancing With The Stars and lots of bright shiny objects meant explicitly to keep us distracted.

18. They can avoid that easily...
Just like so many can actually watch, and pay lip service to having had listened, but still don't have the slightest idea what was just said.

Happens all the time... happening here now... ridiculous.

13. Actually, it's not specualtion, or even hard
Draw a line from here, assuming there will be no recovery for Main St. That's where you'll end up, sooner or later.

so we are distracted when we drive off the cliff.
