It's not only Social Security and Medicare that are in danger, it's future social programs....
GOP wants to design a deal that would allow no new government social programs or at probably at least none that are not profitable or revenue neutral. For example, a budget deal could kill the prospect of Medicare for All for a very long time by making it structurally impossible to implement (if its not already dead because of last year's HCR). Any potential deal should be looked at in these terms as well. Making new progressive programs impossible would be a great coup for the GOP, but a disaster for the country.

4. After the Great Public Option Swindle
who thinks of future social programs?

I'm afraid to ask Democrats to do anything for their constituents, for fear they'd find another corporate patron to enslave us to.

You cry out for universal health care, they chain you to an insurance company oar.

7. If they start to screw SS and Medicare & won't raise tax for the rich
and still want expensive wars, we might as well break up states and leave US Government to the White House Country Club that consists of 1% group kissing corporations so maybe we will have hope.
