3. They created their own monster
the tea baggers are demanding no debt increase which is as realistic as ...... well, the tea baggers

Now the leadership has to deal with it. Yes they will succumb to the Fox News spin (they BELIEVE everything) but it is interesting to watch.

5. We can give him a HUGE debt reduction by cutting the military.
And corporate tax breaks. Taxing offshore bank accounts held by Americans. Making corporations located in the US pay a huge tax penalty for every job the offshore. Stopping the drug war. Stop giving money to other countries for anything other than food.

I'm sure we can think of more good ideas.

11. Despite good faith efforts ...
Boehner thinks demanding everything while ceding nothing is a good faith effort.

And there we have the impasse. I guess we can assume they'll be leaving Social Security alone then?

12. Burn the village... this is what they will do
they are creating a crisis where one did not exist and the results will be catastrophic.

Alas this is a religion and you cannot do anything constructive with religious fanatics.

13. When was the last time the republicans created anything
positive??

When was the last time the republicans moved this country forward??

When was the last time they really thought of this country's best interest instead of their own shallow selves??

lies > lies > lies

No facts, just rants from them.............

14. So if the Repubs let the country default wouldn't they have to get the money from
taxes to pay for the mess they created? From the article.

"The Treasury Department has warned that failure to do so by August 2 could lead to a possible default, which could push interest rates to skyrocket and cause the dollar to plummet. But Republicans, including those controlling the House, have insisted on large-scale budget cuts before raising the ceiling."

I mean they are playing chicken but what happens if we let them get their way by stopping the economy? They can't fix it that fast by cuts it seems to me. It would seem like the only quick fix would be taxes.

I could be wrong.
