5. Bachmann won't make it.
Your cause and effect is very very weak. One elected official's bad decisions do not lead to another particular bad elected official because of anyone's desire for the second. Only the elected official's decisions and facts on the ground are responsible.

Edited on Fri Jul-08-11 02:43 PM by RZM
Today Obama is not very popular here. In late October 2012 it will probably be a different story.

There's not yet a Republican candidate to rally against. Once there is, there will still be some negative Obama comments, but plenty will be willing to forget it for a while and pick it back up after the election when the stakes are lowered.

Edited on Fri Jul-08-11 02:48 PM by LynnTTT
When every poll tells the Prez that a huge majority of the country do not want changes in SS or Medicare , but do want the wealthy to pay more in taxes and you get the feeling that no matter what the people want the Prez and the Dems will ultimately fold. I really did think that common sense would prevail.
Let the Bush tax cuts expire. Get out of Afghanistan. Train those unemployed troops and put them to work on the infrastructure(spending a trillion for safe bridges, water systems, give everyone a solar panel, etc). Raise the SS cap to $ 200,000. Increase the SS tax by .05 per year for 3 years for a total of 1 1/2% . Do the same for the Medicare tax. Medicare- don't pay for knee replacements if someone is morbidly obese (I live in a senior citizen community and it never works).

25. If President Obama and Democrats cut Social Security and Medicare...
Our only recourse is to remove them from power for refusting to represent the people.

The consequences are dire, but I'm willing to accept that.

Note to those he blame this all on an unnamed Source: Pelosilosi: Democrats Won't Back A Debt Deal With Benefit Cuts considers there to be fire where the smoke reises. Both Bernie Snders and Whitehouse have spoken out against this. Clearly they know something of these talks and are opposed to what has been placed on the table.

I figure the Republicans should be completely immobilized so long as they don't have 60 Senators. Hell, we should be able to push our agenda pretty damned hard if we just have a respectable majority in the House and nowhere else. Right?

30. Let me get this straight
Obama disappoints us with his continuing backing away from any progressive policy.
Not being more aggressive and progressive then results in a lackluster economy and an apathetic electorate, who stay home and allow the GOP a big win.
Rather than learn his lesson and embrace the progressive ideas, he retreats further into the GOP agenda,
And WE are warned of the dangers if we don't get in line.
I got that right, Bunky?

A Republican Presidency will just pull us into a much deeper hole.
