BIG: First Advertiser Pulls Ads From ALL Rupert Murdoch/News International Newspaper Outlets
Edited on Fri Jul-08-11 11:02 AM by Snoutport
This is some of the biggest news to break in this story so far! Renault has pulled their ads from ALL News International Newspapers.

This is how the mighty will fall...not from a big blow but from a thousand little paper cuts.

Why is it important that one little car company is pulling their money from Rupert Murdoch? Because Rupert Murdoch is trying to buy 100% of Britains BSkyB Television. He already owns over 30% of Britains newspapers. Murdoch's goal has always been to completely control what the people in Britain (and the US, for that matter) read and watch on television. He wants his people to review all the books and tell you what to read, he wants his people to tell you what shows to watch, he wants you to vote the way he sees fit.

By pulling out of advertising with Rupert Murdoch is a warning to the stake holders in BSkyB. If Murdoch buys them it means they could have an advertising boycott coming right behind. The values of the stocks will drop and people will lose money, jobs will be gone and it will only add to the mess that is News Corp today. http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/blog/2011/jul/08/news-of-the-world-phone-hacking-scandal (at the 3:17 mark)

BSkyB may have just been pulled from Murdoch's grasp. News of the World was Britain's largest paper and the feather in Rupert Murdoch's pimp hat and now that has been killed. His son is probably going to jail. There are calls now in many countries where Murdoch owns papers for phone hacking investigations.

Andy Coulson, ex-editor of NOTW was arrested today. Rebekka Brooks, head of News Corp will be arrested within a week, I would guess. These are two of the closest people to the current Prime Minister David Cameron. The Prime Minister, a Murdoch Minion, is still defending Brooks and until recently Coulson. There is a VERY good chance that Cameron will lose his job over this. He is tied too closely to Murdoch.

There will be a time, soon, when Murdoch has lost control of his empire. Pieces sold off to pay off lawsuits, favored employees all in jail, son in jail...and then Murdoch will die of old age and the world will be free of some of the cancer that has been eating at us since Murdoch inherited his first paper.

Democracy can only exist with a free press. Murdoch has done his best to turn the press to the dark side and undermine democracy. Now we get to sit back and watch Democracy fight back.

6. It is the Guardian live feed...There have been 30-50+ stories a day breaking....
It is pretty amazing how quickly this has blown up--it's making the papers all across the country (but not the Murdoch papers, I would guess).

11. The sad truth is that
it was Rupert Murdoch's paper that got Cameron the Prime Minister's ship.

The ties are there for all to see.

What will the British people do about this, knowing that their Prime Minister
got to power through phone hacking political officials phones, just so they
can placard it on NoTW.

16. So are we finally seeing the end of the expansion of the Murdoch empire?
That is a very good start, indeed. I hope this has some repercussions on this side of the pond.

18. If when the BSKYB deal gets denied by the Brit govt - then yes.
Already today the deal is looking much more less likely to happen. As much as the current is driven by recent "yuck factor" revelations - I think it is likely when political problems start happening (Can PM Cameron survive - and what more will be disclosed about manipulation of other politicians) that the toxicity will move over the pond.

I'm expecting them to try, at least. It is Murdoch after all.

21. your link to the Hugh Grant statement had a little kernal...
he states that Murdoch et al were willing to sacrifice hundreds (or how many) jobs to save the job of Brook. Its a persuasive argument.

Then match it with Brook's own statements to the staff- that they had to close up because there were 2 years more of likely problems - and that in a year it would be clear why they closed.

Then go back to Grant's description. Why were the Murdochs'(and yes, the move of the cleanup to Klien puts this back in Rupert's sphere of concern/influence) so quick and willing to sacrifice NoTW? It (the piles of scummy things done) has to be *that* bad. Already their are signs that the decision will be slowed down/delayed based on waiting for findings of investigations - hard to go backwards on that position - while the revelations keep spilling out.

Certainly he/they will try... but hmmmm.

Again - thanks for your coverage of this story.
