It's not just Beck, Palin, Hannity and Coulter; it's become more insidious.

Alex Jones and George Noory are just as much to blame for the ideology expressed in this murderer's You Tube movies. Jones and Noory masquerade as politically neutral and favor guests who pontificate about the same preoccupations that obsessed this gunman:

One world order
One global currency
The Constitution has become irrelevant to our leaders
Hoard gold and silver
Hoard food
Climate change is a hoax
Don't get vaccines or innoculations...
H1N1 was a conspiracy invented in a lab, just like AIDS
The Rockefellers, the Bilderbergers (sp?), George Soros, and that hideout in Northern California where children are sacrificed before totem poles.

And on and on. You all know this story--it is a well known philosophy.

It is completely irrational, but for unhinged people, these obsessions take root and grow and grow into the ugliest acts of violence imaginable.

We need to call these people out, especially the ones who appear to have no political agenda, like Alex Jones and George Noory. They pose as benevolent father and grandfather figures.

I think they are far more dangerous than the other obvious examples who wear their bias openly on their sleeves, because they claim legitimacy when they make their outrageous claims and interview maniacs like Steven Quayle who echo the craziest thoughts. The other night Quayle said that "The Great Flood" happened because humans copulated with animals and were being punished by God. And that is just the tip of the iceberg of some of the nutty things that are believed by gullible Americans.

Don't get me wrong: I loathe Sarah Palin and her ilk, but I think people who derive their beliefs from them know what the score is. They know they have allied themselves with strict partisans who are ridiculed by most thinkers.

It's fucking terrifying.

1. Wait a minute
Not too fast. A person can have any ideology and be crazy and whacked out enough to do this. This is more mental illness than politics - the videos seem to show this pretty clearly. Also, he's supposedly an Afghan vet? If you want to lay blame - lay it with how the military can %$#$ people up.

At this stage, it's just too early to start screaming about ideology. He was unhinged.

2. I will think about what you are saying, but I think the beliefs lead to being
unhinged. If that makes sense. There are people, I admit, who are more vulnerable than others to having ideas take root in an unhealthy way. But I appreciate your point and take it seriously.

Thanks. I am a bit emotional and angry right now. Maybe it is coloring my comments.

5. well, the children sacrifice maybe ridiculous
but the Bohemian Grove gathering puts together business and politics-planning without the say of the people. Apparently they also do some form of ceremony complete with robes-burning the effigy of care to an owl statue. Now I always thought they were burning the concept of empathy, so to do business as usual. And every year there is quite the crowd of protesters. So let's not "throw out the baby with the bath water." And loony moonie was really crowned in one of the senate chambers with some of our glorious elected leaders as witnesses.

Of course, if you have some real raving mouthpieces to blur the line of fable and truth, it kind of helps those who have real skeletons in their closet.

Now the gold, it reminds me of that Twilight Zone series-where the convicts steal gold and wind up in the future. They wind up killing each other for the gold, until only one man is left. Gold is worthless in the future. I'd say the only thing worth anything is what helps you survive-that would be food and water cause you can't drink gold. If someone changes the game, gold could be worthless tomorrow.

6. oh, and I remember about eight years ago
it was on PBS-that gathering in Aspen to discuss the Constitution. Yes, the round table was discussing how we didn't need that bothersome constitution as it has outdated in our society--I remember they had call in, and one gentleman called in from Canada and said Canada had nothing like our Constitution, they had the Magna Carta--and if we didn't want it, they'd take it. You don't think the Aspen think tank hasn't attempted to circumvent the Constitution?

7. Alex Jones is a fundie nut job and he's wrong about Global warming....
but he is right about a few things like 9/11 was MIHOP/LIHOP, the Bilderberg group, vaccines, one world order, the destruction of the Constitution.

I doubt that Palin and Jones are on the same page or that Palin thinks 9/11 was MIHOP/LIHOP.

8. It's what Sagan warned about in "Demon-Haunted World".
There is no reasoned public discourse anymore, it's all insanity.

10. Alex Jones is a lunatic....
He's a gun advocate and alarmist. Recently when the Obama family went overseas he was raising huge alarms that Obama was taking his family to safety while America burned. Crazy guy.

But, George Noory is a very good radio interviewer who I respect and enjoy listening to.

11. Agree about Jones. BUT..
I don't like when Noory gets into politics much. I told him such though e-mail - that he should stick to ghosts and UFOs. Noory buys into the libertarian agenda way too often when doing politics. One time he talked a woman down who rightfully challenged his guest on the "fair tax."
