even though it didn't get "great" reviews,I thought it was really well-done.

2. Excellent adaptation, I thought.
And Richard Burton's final film, if I'm not mistaken.

4. It didn't get great reviews because it came out during the Reagan era
and hit a little too close to home.

It is an excellent film.

5. I would suggest you read it instead.
It might take a bit longer, but its worth it.

6. the back story on the making of 1984
Edited on Thu Jun-30-11 02:54 PM by madrchsod
over the years orwell`s widow turned down overtures to buy the rights to the book. the makers of this film finally convinced her to read the proposed script and she finally signed over the rights to make this film.

personally i think it was interesting and i`d give it a 7. what i did like was the soundtrack.
