I want the President to be kind of a dick.

I don't watch Scarborough so I didn't hear Halperin's comment in full context, but my first thought was that that is exactly what is needed in this situation. I'm tired of the President, and the Dems in general, playing Mr. I'll-Compromise-While-You-Stab-Me-In-The-Back. I want to see them walk in with nuts so big that they have to plop them down on the table. I want to see them stand up to the Republicans and saunter out to the press in droves and say that we just can't work with people who are trying to destroy the American middle-class, the American economy and the US government in order to make sure that the top 10% have even more money that will sit in a bank overseas to "protect" them from paying their fair share of taxes.

SO I want to hear more Republicans and Republican sympathizers calling the President a "bit of a dick". That' would mean that he's doing his job. When there's TRUE compromise, NOBODY gets everything that they want. In the past, it was always taken in good faith that both parties were negotiating for what they thought was best for America. The formula has changed as we have individuals whose expressed interest is to create a one-sided America where the federal government is powerless in everything but legislating morality, is completely in the hands of the corporations and stands by as our water, air and infrastructure rot around our ears.

So be a bit of a dick Mr. President...PLEASE!

4. Unfortunately, it's not the 80% who usually win: it's the 20% hard-core extreme

5. Absolutely.
That's the biggest problem with Obama's usual behavior - he is supported by the majority, but he continues to whiff on repuke fastballs down the middle of the plate. If he would only tell the right-wing what we all feel about them, his ratings would go through the roof!

The US has been sucking of the tit off the New Deal for most of the last century. It's the prosperity that was generated by this mammoth social project that has let these right-wing parasites jack up "defense" spending and claim that it was social spending, not corporate malfeasance, that brought the US economy to the brink of total destruction. We let multinat banks suck trillions of dollars out of the economy and dump them into oversea money sanctuaries. We stand by while the military-industrial complex dumps trillions of dollars into deserts around the world so that their charter companies can drop by and pick it up. Yet we can't provide adequate healthcare for our retiring workers EVEN THOUGH THE MONEY COLLECTED FOR JUST THAT PURPOSE IS THERE in a fund that has been raped for decades to pay for wars? Give me a fucking break!

We need a New Deal and to get it we need a leader who wants to stand up for what is right and knows that he/she will have to be a bit of a dick to get it.

6. Seriously...if only....
That's what's so absurd.

"The president is a Socialist!!!"

Huh? Really? That would be awesome. When does it start?

"The president is too liberal!!!"

Seriously? When can I put this going into effect on my calendar?

"The president is a dick!!!"

Whatwhatwhat?!?!? Somebody play me the video of this happening. Because I haven't seen it. Maybe we wouldn't be so far up shits creek if he would try to be a little more of a dick rather than being obsessed at all our expenses with getting "the cool kids" in the DC media and congress to like him and say nice things about him.
