Bravo! Obama, Bravo! Nancy Pelosi
Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi issued this statement following President Obama's press conference:

"Bravo! This is the fight House Democrats have been making for the last six months under the Republican Majority as they move to end Medicare and continue tax breaks for Big Oil.

"The President has spoken out and there will be a clearer understanding of what the choices are for the American people.

"We join the President in what he has long called for: a balanced, bipartisan package that creates jobs, protects Medicare, and respects the retirement of our seniors and the education of our children."

5. No crickets - I know I did a little digging yesterday following his presser
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x1385578

Another DUer posted just before me, the same thing, within minutes of each other.

I also said we need to wait and see how this all plays out...

Or, should I say Weiner. Oh that's right. The "Bravo team" shit-canned him. He just happens to be a strong democratic vote. Too bad they stand mute in the face of many times worse republican shenanigans.

Wouldn't it be "bi-partisan" to call for the resignation of a few republicans?

edit to correct poor spelling. The bravo team is destroying public schools, and hooked on phonics has failed me again.

9. Pelosi is still taking shit and feeling the weight of the world
for taking it off the table.

She had better put some action on the table before the party is over. But can it ever be enough to atone for the Failure? Congress too.

10. "protects Medicare, and respects the retirement of our seniors" -- uh-oh
Edited on Thu Jun-30-11 09:21 AM by Jazz Ambassador
"Respects" -- not "protects." Looks like Social Security's on the chopping block. It would have been easier, more succinct, and more politically savvy to say "protects Medicare and Social Security." But she didn't, and that sentence is too carefully crafted for the omission to be anything but deliberate.

anything that comes from the Right will only cause more damage.

13. I was surprised at Howard Dean's response when asked on MJ what he thought of Pelosi's statement
He hesitated for a moment and said:

Well, it might be a little inflammatory, but I think she's right".

INFAMMATORY??...WTF is he talking about?...I've always loved Dean

but I'm getting the feeling (not on this comment alone) that he's

not as progressive as he once was.....I'll be happy to be proven wrong.;(

14. I think Howard was just being kind.
Trying to keep the hand grenades from being thrown across the aisle at each other.

Secretly, he probably laughed and said "go get 'em, Nancy."

18. "bipartisan package"
With the Weiner saga and all, I'm wondering what that would look like.

On a serious note, the phrase give me a lot angst. Drop that bullshit phrase, please. When Republicans use it, you know they don't mean it. When Dems use it, history shows they do mean it. Scares the ever lovin crap out of me.
