1. What if someone, anyone called George W. Bush that on TV?
These talking heads have no problem being verbally abusive to President Obama. It's as if they saved it all up from eight years of Der Fuhrer before unleashing it all on a Democratic President. He should be fired.

2. TIME OF WAR - TROOPS IN THE FIELD ...
Commander in Chief ...

Any D so much as caught saying Bush was a mental midget would have been evicerated ...

But, again this rare moment of complete honesty shows the underpinning of the "liberal media."

You SEE, and FEEL, this tone with these jagoffs all the time ... Any R spews the most mindbendingly dishonest crape about Ds, and they are "being tough!" A D calls the Rs out and the "liberal media" has to leap to defend the "tough" Rs ...

4. Congress would have already passed a resolution condemning Time
And the magazine would have lost half its circulation because of it's terror-loving, america-hating bias...

I'm not joking...I don't care if it was an honest slip of the tongue or not -- I want Halpern to be jumped on with at least half the fury the media had for NPR's off-the-record teabagger remarks...

7. Exactly. I think there will be repercussions from this
I believe the media has felt free to criticize and denigrate President Obama because they haven't been reined in by anyone.

11. Me too, but the point is, no one dared do that when he was President
Maybe my memory is fading, but I don't even remember much criticism, especially in the four years after 9/11.

6. Halperin's A GOTB Water Carrier...
This is the shitstain who said that Drudge is the center of the media world and spread a lot of Rove talking points for the past decade. This douchenozzle doesn't miss a chance to bash Democrats or spin the right wing meme on any issue. So this is no surprise. Methinks he gets too comfy in that studio and made the ultimate mistake of truly being himself.

10. Now they got some idiot on there with a "poor sarah" spiel going on-about how the media is so mean
to her. Unbelievable. Look at what Obama or ANY president has to go through with the media on a daily basis. She's only a freakn' celebrity who has the option of getting away from the press any time she wishes. Disgusting.

13. They've become the People magazine of TV
Too bad Mika views herself as a serious newscaster. This morning put the final topping contradicting that. I'd be embarrassed to be part of that show.

14. Yeah. People on TV should be censored from speaking their mind.
Edited on Thu Jun-30-11 08:04 AM by Shagbark Hickory
They should only say what their corporate minders find acceptable.

:sarcasm:

Which IMO is the point of the new MSM. They're in the FUD business.

22. Schuster, Schultz
Pimping out, slut ... dick.

The first two (rightly) merited suspensions. This last one definitely deserves a big fat suspension, if not outright firing.

This is why I stopped watching anything on these infotainment channels (MSNBC or CNN) two years ago. If I want to watch crap reality TV, I'll watch the real stuff, not stuff that poses as political analysis but is really meant only to titillate.

23. He's called worse than that right here on DU on a daily basis.
Many of the posts that do so are not deleted, and remain on the site and are recommended to the Greatest Page.

Examples of words that are worse include, "traitor, Republican, coward, etc."

And that's on Democratic Underground, for pete's sake.

28. What are we, then? It's a public place, that reaches the entire
world, and we provide commentary on current events. How is that so much different than a moronic morning talk show that is watched by less than a million people? We come here specifically to add our commentary to the world's events. We are part of the "new media," and we constantly discuss just how important that "new media" is. I'm sorry, but political discussion forums are very much like cable commentary shows. Morning Jerk is not a news program. It is pure commentary. So are most cable "news" programs. The difference between News and Editorial is clear by definition, but it is very unclear in the way it's bandied about by most of us.

Morning Jerk is not a news program. It's an editorial program. Always has been.

I'm not saying such expression should not appear on DU, or that DU should delete such posts. I'm saying that it does occur. That's all.
