6. About half of our Indiana plates have it already.
Interestingly, it's always cars with "In God We Trust" on their plates that are speeding.

14. Too bad there isn't a class action suit filed...
That plate costs more to produce, as does any vanity plate, but it goes for the same price as a regular one. So our taxes are supporting it.

So much for separation of church and state in Indiana.

In God We Trust plates don't win, but one of them probably will. I think it will look so stupid to drive around with that on the car!! By the way, anyone can vote for the tag they want to win here:

https://etax.dor.ga.gov/TagContest.aspx

I voted for #3.

It's the one with the least amount of crap behind the numbers, so it'll be easier to read in low light.

8. It should be an option but not forced
Basic respect for the Constitution means that a state shouldn't force an individual to display such a message. Atheists have rights also, as does anyone who doesn't want this license plate.

You can have a couple of designs and let people choose. A lot of people in GA would like to have this plate, but don't want to force it on everyone.

In any case, it is totally unconstitutional to mandate this plate for everyone, or to force people to pay more for a different design. And yes, even fundamentalists do tend to respect the Constitution.

13. Really? So atheists can get a "there is no god to trust or otherwise" plate? nt

16. Works for me
GA has a lot of different plates - most of them you pay for:
http://motor.etax.dor.ga.gov/forms/pdf/motor/Sponsor%20or%20Commemorative%20License%20Plate%20Fees.pdf

What I'm trying to get at is that the standard plate for which you DO NOT pay extra should be something neutral or a few choices, one of which is neutral. These are the eight designs in the current contest:
http://beta.news.yahoo.com/blogs/atlanta/georgia-license-plate-design-vote-202310908.html

You just can't use the government (state or otherwise) to force people into displaying things with which they do not agree. A lot of people would like one of the "In God We Trust" designs. Fine. There's nothing wrong with letting people have what they like - as long as you don't stick other people with what they don't like, especially in an unconstitutional way.

I like No 5 but I had to vote for No 4 because of this problem. Now if they just allowed two....

I don't see anything wrong with atheists getting a plate that says that.

But you still need a neutral choice - forcing people into displaying a message about God on their license plate can't possibly be right.

19. Revolutionary idea for a license plate design:
A plain metal rectangle with the license number and name of the state. Is that too much to ask?

People who want special symbols and slogans on their plate can have the option to pay extra.
