Something Brand New In The Muslim World
http://thinkprogress.org/2011/01/08/thousands-muslims-human-shields/">Thousands Of Egyptian Muslims Show Up As ‘Human Shields’ To Defend Coptic Christians From Terrorism

On New Year’s Day, a devastating terrorist bombing at a Coptic church in Egypt killed 21 people and injured 79 others. Although the identity of the culprits was not known, it was assumed that they were Muslim extremists, intent on targeting those they saw as heretics. Religious tensions immediately rose in the country, and angry Copts stormed streets, battled with police, and even vandalized a nearby mosque. The riots and heightened tensions between the Muslim and Coptic communities was likely what the terrorists wanted — to divide the Egyptian community and create sectarian strife between different religious groups.

Yet by Coptic Christmas Eve, which took place Thursday night in Egypt, things had changed completely. As Egyptian Copts attended mass at churches across the country, “thousands” of Muslims, including “the two sons of President Hosni Mubarak,” joined them, acting as “human shields” to protect from terrorist attacks by extremists. The Muslims organized under the slogan “We either live together, or we die together,” inspired by Mohamed El-Sawy, an Egyptian artist...

Now the next question is whether they can sustain such an attitude. The Muslim "terrorists" will attack again and again so this isn't over. And the attacks won't be just in Egypt but across the world. Not only was Bush Jr's middle east folly a failure but it has seemed to make matters worse. This could be a turning point and humanity could indeed turn away from the brink. Or it could be nothing...

1. Not true
Muslims, Christians, Jews and others lived side by side for centuries until Western powers thought that the best way to steal the resources was to divide and conquer.

2. Obviously You're Not Into History
Muslims, Christians, Jews and others lived side by side for centuries until Western powers thought that the best way to steal the resources was to divide and conquer.

Here's your hint: who attacked who first, the Muslims or the Christians...Visigothic Kingdoms

4. I'm not really sure why you think this is a new thing.
Christians, Jews, and Muslims have lived in that area for many centuries. They've managed to coexist, despite tensions between the religions. The Copts have been there in Egypt for a very, very long time. They haven't been exterminated by anyone. Why do you suppose that is? It's because they're all Egyptians and have neighbors and friends of other faiths.

Religion-based violence is now, and has always been, an abberation. It comes and goes. And yet, the three religions of the middle east have been sharing territory now for a very, very long time. So long that it beggars our western culture.

Muslims are not evil on a religious basis. Neither are Christians or Jews. People are evil, sometimes, and sometimes use religion as a shield behind which to hide. Such people are in the minority, regardless of their religious beliefs.

There's something very ugly in your expressed premise here. It speaks more of prejudice than knowledge of history.
