The GOP's Game Plan: Cause a Recession

By Dennis Jett
June 26, 2011

.....

The actual (2012 Republican) nominee is unimportant because if the economy is on the upswing with some reason for optimism, Obama will be reelected. If it is not, he won't. That is why Republicans are so desperate to cause a new recession.

It is not that they all flunked Economics 101. Nor is it that the same people, who said nothing as Reagan tripled the national debt and George Jr. doubled it, have suddenly gotten religion when it comes to the deficit. It is why they are playing chicken with the credit rating of the U.S. Government as they drag their feet on raising the debt ceiling. And it is why they refuse to confirm the president's choices for a number of key economic policy decision-making positions.

.....

For that reason, Herman Cain will not get the nod. Even before Obama, over 90 percent of African Americans voted Democratic for a reason. The anti-immigrant hysteria that is a staple of Republican debate has nothing to do with national security. It is because the party has written off the Hispanic vote in order to energize the white, male, southern base and the Tea Party crowd. The latter are a mob masquerading as a movement that is funded by billionaires and fueled by the conviction that any black man in the White House should be wearing gloves and carrying a silver tray.

Michele Bachmann or Sarah Palin will also not be the nominee. The party that believes government should do next to nothing, but must make fundamental decisions for women about their reproductive health likes its women sassy, sexy and simple minded. That is why prominent conservative females, in politics or the media, are known for their looks and their bile, but not for their brains.

.....

The author methodically goes down the rest of the list of "potential nominees", finding that the choice of not one of them will matter.

What will matter is whether the GOP are successful in forcing a full-blown depression on the populace and then gleefully blaming Democrats for it.

Keep in mind that the M$M aren't going to do anything but facilitate it.

The GOP game plan, exposed for all to see.

1. "Cause a new recession"???
Excuse me, MSM, but we haven't lifted ourselves out of the "last" one. We're living it every day with no relief in sight.

There is no question the GOP wants the economy wrecked but there's so much wreckage now as to make it ridiculously easy for them.

9. Yes. more like
an ongoing operation than a plan. The plan has been in operation over several departing GOP administrations. The Dems mostly leave successes it takes years to cover with forgetfulness and destruction. This time Obama was given one of the worst of all cases. The fact that he has repeated the even bigger mistakes of even past "great" Presidents has left historians with the conclusion that the most aggressive/positive change comes from accidental presidents like TR or turncoats to the permission givers. Lincoln's hands were similarly tied by the civil war from his (admittedly) incrementalist desire for economic and civil justice. Maybe FDR had more ground support and pressure from the desperate common man than Obama could appeal for today.

The tools for avoiding a consistent grinding and disheartening crash are willfully limited in the current WH agenda. With control of the MSM message machine the plan exists, "prospers" and maintains every chance of default success especially if their is little perceived economic difference by some sanitized GOP contender. Even if they secretly concede Obama's personal victory the GOP is impossibly credited with survival, thriving, further strangling of America for the post Obama years. If the party persists in its pride in impotence it will conveniently tear itself to hohum threads without a real progressive base in 2016 and basically allow the GOP to handle its hollow self for filling the hollow crown as a funnel of meaningless loot to the world's rich.

Meanwhile billions are doomed to perish and civilization fail if such a false dichotomy continues to pursue cruel fantasies except for weak responses on a rigged gameboard.

4. I thought the plan was to: 1) continue to appeal to racism, 2) run against gay marriage,
3) run against the light bulb ban, 4) dismantle education and the safety net and 5) steal the future.

6. This was plainly obvious starting in 2009
I fully expect that they won't approve raising the debt ceiling for exactly this reason. If they don't, it proves exactly what they're doing.

10. It was obvious even earlier than that.
With the nomination of John McCain it was clear that the Republicans could not win the Presidency, and beginning then, in the last year of the Bush Administration, all thought of trying to save the economy evaporated in Republican camps. They knew the next 4 years were going to belong to the Democrats and they began immediately to poison the well.

13. amazing !
Its so unbelieveble to me that either party would let the suffering of Americians effected most by our poor econonmy to continue and even get worst for their own politicial advancement! The only thing that I know is that thou they may have economic good health I believe in karma and all the money in the world will not buy you more time when the end is near and you have to meet your maker and explain your actions. When you are in a position of power and your decisions effect hundreds or thousands of people Iam sure you are held accountable.

15. Disaster capitalism
Tank the economy, keep people desperate, get elected, enact a far-right agenda, hand over our country to corporations, dismantle workers rights, education, social programs, etc. Remember,
"RIGHT-WING SOCIAL ENGINEERING". See: Shock Doctrine. The stage is set.

17. It Can Only Work Because the Tee Vee Tells Everybody to Blame Obama for Everything
The Repiglickins are doing everything they can to wreck the economy,
but they fear no repercussions, the Tee Vee tells everybody to blame Obama.

It seems to work all too well. We even see a lot of people doing it here.

18. But will Obama call them on it? Or will he continue to praise them like he did before the 2010 ...
... election. If he doesn't make the case for voting against the GOP we are in for additional heavy losses.
