"Shared burden"...my ass

The outstanding response below is in reference to this article:

Joe Biden Warns Republicans On Debt Ceiling Talks

~snip~

"We're not going to let the middle class carry the whole burden. We will sacrifice. But they must be in on the deal," Biden said in a speech at the Ohio Democratic Party's annual dinner.

The middle class should not bear ANY burden over the mess our government has created.

We did not crash our financial system—banksters and corporate gangsters did.

We did not authorize 10-years of war in 4 countries, two presidents and congress did.

We should not have one fraction of our Social Services removed unless:

1. Those responsible for crashing our financial system are thrown in jail.
2. Billionaires and corporations pay their fair share of taxes.
3. Corporate subsidies and tax loopholes are closed.
4. The MIC budget is cut in half and these endless wars ended.

ONLY THEN can ANY congressperson dare mention "shared burden."

1. In my opinion, the middle class shouldn't have to sacrifice AT ALL.

2. Yes, we've already sacrificed our jobs and our standard of living.
That's enough!

3. If we go back to Clinton rates, get rid of Medicare "doc fixes" and keep Obama's medicare fix
We are fine.

Is the middle class unwilling to go back to Clinton rates if the rich have to also?

4. Words like "burden" and "sacrifice" aren't even applicable...
to the rich or corporations. These words have an inherent meaning of bodily effort and suffering so to use them in reference to the tax responsibilities of the wealthy is absurd. The tax on a working-class American is a real burden and sacrifice. It's taken from income that arises from the effort of their labor and as used to provide necessities for them and their dependents. A tax hike on working people literally comes "out of their hide" but a rich person's needs for sustenance aren't greater than a non-rich person's simply because they have more money.
I think we need to stop using these words and replace them with "responsibility" or "duty", or to be really honest, "debt". More of our collective resources and infrastructure is used generate the financial wealth of the rich so they owe the rest of us a huge debt for it.

6. The middle class isn't carrying the whole burden. The poor shoulder a lot of it
as well, including those in the military.
