A convertible carrying the grand marshal in today's Anchorage Pridefest parade ran over a woman, killing her just as the Downtown parade was starting, witnesses say.





Grand Marshal Doug Frank was riding in the black convertible when the driver had trouble with the car's accelerator. It lurched forward, Frank said.

"It ran over a person, totally over," he said, sobbing. "This went from one of the best days of my life to the worst."

13. Ah, the San Diego "Hello Kitty killer balloon" is a joke story.

Never happened. The others did happen.

And I remember a Memorial Day parade in Seattle's University district when I was a child where one of the floats lost it's steering and ended up wrapped around a lightpost; I heard that the float driver ended up injured.

If there's a problem with the modes of transportation in a parade, be they mechanical or live (horses have been known to spook and stampede) things can go south in a parade pretty quickly, what with the large concentrations of crowd lining the streets.
