1. Well, I think one reason the economy sucks is that gas had gone up again. It is
a viscous cycle.

4. I agree 100%,
I also think the reason the economy clasped the first time was because of ridiculous gas prices. People could not pay their mortgage or other bills because they had to pay for gas.

10. this is pretty cool: prices by county, throughout the country:
Edited on Thu Jun-23-11 11:56 AM by Gabi Hayes
right click on any county for the price. you can zoom in right to your neighborhood>>>

http://www.chicagogasprices.com/Price_By_County.aspx

why on earth are there such striking differences?

obviously local/state taxes have an effect, but I'd like to know the reason for a 70 cent/gallon difference between, say, Chicago and Springfield

13. This takes awhile for it to filter down to the pump
and this can change tomorrow back up on the wholesale pricing. Last night, terminal pricing at the Station level went up 6.8 cents in Virginia, to 3.39 after falling the last week overall.

14. I paid $3.97/gal the other day
I live in CT.

The saw it at another station for $3.92 and $3.87, with the latter being the cheapest I've seen it in quite some time.

16. aren't the prices just being manipulated by speculators on one side and the Gov and it's reserves
on the other?

are there any significant changes being made with the consumer in mind or is our up and down price just the by-product of a tug of war between capitalism and politics?

they'll go down. and next time thy go up $5/gal will be the new norm. it's inevitable.
