"Jackass" star Ryan Dunn was extremely intoxicated at the time of his fatal crash Monday morning ... with a blood alcohol level of more than TWICE the legal limit ... this according to cops.

West Goshen Police Chief Michael Carroll told the Daily Local News ... Dunn's B.A.C. was .196 ... nearly two-and-a-half times the legal limit in Pennsylvania, which is .08.

Carroll added, "No other substances were found in his blood other than the alcohol."

As TMZ reported, Dunn and his passenger were killed when Dunn lost control of his Porsche, crashed in a wooded area and his car exploded in flames.

UPDATE: Now cops are saying Dunn was traveling between 132 and 140 MPH at the time of his crash.

My sister has mild shakey hands and she is not an alcoholic. I'm sure many people would get shaky hands simply from being on a game shows. It could be caused by caffeine. Seeing someone shake on a game show is not enough to diagnose them as an alcoholic.

You would have to make such a colossal (and likely intentional) mistake to get into any trouble in a Maranello that it isn't funny.

My pal also blasted me through a tunnel in another of his Ferraris and touched 130-140 before pulling it back to around 80. And mind you, my friend is a self-made millionaire (who earned every dime of his money by building the highest quality products in their field) 60+ Mormon who is the very antithesis of a hellion. He has, however, been to high-performance driving school and racing school and has owned Ferraris for 30+ years.
