Sarah Palin quits bus tour halfway through, retreats to Alaska
WASHINGTON – Amid diminishing media interest, Sarah Palin has quit her high-profile bus tour halfway through and returned to Alaska with her family, according to RealClearPolitics.
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2011/06/22/palin_bus_tour_takes_extended_pit_stop__110313.html

The move puts a damper on widespread speculations that Palin's "One Nation" bus tour, which launched on Memorial Day, was a potential precursor to a potential White House bid for 2012. Palin never made it to her scheduled stops in the key primary states of Iowa and New Hampshire.

RealClearPolitics, which originally broke the story about the bus tour, reported Wednesday on Palin's "extended hiatus." The remaining legs of her trip, according to Scott Conroy, are "in limbo" as "Palin and her family have reverted to the friendly confines of summertime Alaska."

27. "Sitting here in Limbo." - The Pale Horses (apologies to Jimmy Cliff)
Sitting here in limbo
But I know it won't be long
Sitting here in limbo
Like a bird without a song

Well, they're
Putting up resistance
But I know that my faith
Will lead me on

Sitting here in limbo
Waiting for the dice to roll
Sitting here in limbo
Got some time to search my soul

Well, they're
Putting up resistance
But I know that my faith
Will lead me on

Sitting in limbo, sitting in limbo
Sitting in limbo, sitting in limbo
Sitting in limbo, sitting in limbo
Sitting in limbo, limbo, limbo
Sitting in limbo

9. And was her Alaska television series canceled, or did she "quit" that too before the second season!
Seems like that's the question that Hannity fans are asking.

So is she better for having "quit" this series before a second season, or did the network truly feel that it was crappy enough not to renew the season. Not much of a choice for the righties, much like her political career!

12. from what I read the ratings for her show ...
.... were going in the tank and that it was costing more to produce the show then
what they had thought was going to come in ..... and btw Sarah couldn't shoot, fish,
and her outdoor skills were lacking ..... Todd wasn't the best either.

My guess is that Roger Ailes pulled the plug on giving the bus tour publicity and the
national media quit covering her too .... no pub and little money coming in and Ms.
Palin bailed on the tour. And also two (I was channeling my inner Palin) her Paul
Revere misstep kinda killed her "American History" theme of her tour too.

60. According to Levi Johnston
Palin spends her days on the couch, in her robe, watching soap operas.
She sends her kids to fetch meals from Taco Bell.
Todd spends his days drinking beer in the garage.

Paid by the advance on a ghostwritten book.

She's a hard worker all right.

55. Now, now...get the city manager story straight
http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2008/09/17/palin_mayor

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jacob-alperinsheriff/mayor-palin-left-wasilla_b_128011.html

IIRC the reason Palin hired the city manager was to keep from being recalled.

But it doesn't matter anyway: after she fired the police chief and the librarian, got the not-anti-gay book the local preacher wrote out of the Wasilla library, filled the city government with her cronies and built her kid a hockey rink on land the city wasn't entitled to (and so far from where anyone in Wasilla lives no one uses it--which may have been by design; if people were using the center, her kid's hockey team couldn't practice then) she'd done everything she set out to do.

11. Seems like the whole thing was kinda slapdash anyway. Thinking she can dodge the "lamestream media"

by jaunting around the country without an itinerary. My guess is that she is desperately trying to remain relevant while the Rove/GOP establishment machine works push her out. Mainstream campaigning would reveal this split and how hesitant the big establishment backers are to support her. So she does what any good carnival barker would do, she takes her freakshow on the road.

But shes paying the price for deviating from the script. The backlash against her memorial day appearance with Rolling Thunder, her Paul Revere gaffe, etc. She has to have more control over the circumstances within which she interacts with her supporters. My guess is she will do some kind of "book tour" or some other form of road show where her interaction with the public will be more limited and scripted.

Of course the media calls it some kind of brilliant non-conformist strategy when it's really just chaos.

13. Blind Allegiance, p. 356
Getting Sarah to meetings and events was like nailing Jell-O to a tree. On the campaign trail and as governor, Sarah went through at least ten schedulers, with few lasting more than months. Nobody wanted the job because Sarah might fail to honor, at the last minute, the smallest commitments, and making excuses for her became a painful burden. In at least one instance, a scheduler quit after breaking down in tears; another left after being accidentally copied on an email from Sarah trashing her.

And where was Sarah when she cancelled on the Reagan Library event? Hanging out in San Diego with her ghostwriter Lynn Vincent. Must keep one's priorities straight, you know.
