Government Subsidies Will Keep The Internet FREE and INDEPENDENT
Opinion leaders are only as independent as their personal financial situation allows them to be. However, it is impractical to require bloggers to be independently wealthy. Therefore, government should subsidize bloggers the way it subsidizes political campaigns.

Even better, bloggers ought to be licensed. How can we trust somebody with nothing to lose by lying? If tow truck operators and beauticians need licenses, the same should apply to people who produce opinions.

The Internet is full of lies and pornography

2. I agree with pretty much everything you said.
And I will be the first blogger waiting for an internet subsidy.

4. Lies and Pornography
I'm a little bit late to the game, having just discovered that the Internet is full of lies and pornography. But apparently I'm not the only latecomer, judging by the number of threads reacting in horror to the discovery that a blogger might feel beholden to people who help pay the rent. I am just as shocked as everyone else but I'm more pro-active than many. I'm calling for an actual subsidy to prevent these abuses.

The last thing we need is undue influence on bloggers.

6. Beholden to people who pay the rent? Fine. Being paid by Repubs to trash Democrats? NOT FINE.
At least not when you're pretending to be some great morally pure progressive icon, then getting your palms greased by Grover Norquist and company to help them destroy the Democratic Party and any chance of recovering the United States Government.
