4. Your inability to see past Weiner's erect penis is sad. The FACT is yes, they were in the process
of trying to set Weiner up. Whether he was actually doing something stupid or not.

8. I take it a different way
It seems they became aware he was up to something. And they might try to bait him in. I think things worked out better than the worst case scenario and saved a lot of headaches.

Which is a different issue than Weiner's stupidity in setting HIMSELF up.

11. There was the BornFreeCrew who pretended to be teen girls tweeting Weiner for a prom date.
Edited on Tue Jun-21-11 09:15 AM by KittyWampus
Do you remember David Brock explaining who the "elves" were and how they set up Clinton/Democrats?

This is the same thing.

The BornFreeCrew also were in contact with a Republican party operative- can't remember his name.

It's sad Weiner gave these elves the material to work with. But apparently they were ready to set him up with or without actual real evidence.

30. I agree, Weiner did some cyberstalking of his own but
the BornFreeCrew did start stalking him and the minor. The minor actually Tweeted Weiner about the BornFreeCrew giving her a hard time because she was following him.

What he did was incredibly stupid but one has to wonder if this would have made the light of day if he hadn't been going after Clarence Thomas. Just as Thomas was starting to get some heat from Weiner and the media, suddenly, all this stuff that had been happening on Twitter came out. The Repub ops were sitting on this until it was needed.

what these politicians don't realize is that they only need to make one illicit tweet, email, text, post, etc. etc. etc in order to open themselves up for scruntiny.

15. He Played Right Into The Hands Of His Enemies...
I am sure Weiner was followed by Breitbart and his stooges but only after someone tipped them off about Weiner's stupid antics. His reckless behavior was his undoing and if Breitbart wouldn't have ended up with it, the Enquirer or TMZ would have.

Cheers...

23. It's not the sex: it's the lies and false allegations that got Weiner.
The sex made it the number one story in the media. The lies and false allegations got him to where he had to resign from Congress.

"Elves setting him up" is nonsense. Once the photos appeared on the internet and media, the story was going to be followed by every media and blog outlet (including rumors), and Weiner was toast when he denied it and made false allegations.

So fucking what? Congressman Wiener was still out there posing sexy in the Congressional gym and in front of family photos IDENTIFYING HIMSELF as a congressman.

The constant gymnastics that some folks are using to explain away this moron's moronic behavior is just shy of neurotic. I could not care less about the so-called morals - it is the stupidity and lying that is the issue.

Is the Enquirer to blame for John Edward's affair? Linda Tripp for Bill Clinton?

Seriously....Wiener did this to himself. The people that exposed it may be assholes, but they are not complicit in the problem.

27. Did anyone even listen to the man?
Maybe it's me, but I thought.. "last Friday night I tweeted a photograph of myself that I intended to send as a direct message as part of a joke to a woman in Seattle. Once I realized I had posted to twitter, I panicked, I took it down, and said that I had been hacked. I then continued with that story, to stick to that story, which was a hugely regrettable mistake."

Pretty much settled all the conspiracy theories floating around by the salvage Weiner's reputation crowd. First it was all a smear, Breightbart's goon were lying. Then, it was all faked, websites bent over backward proving it. The pixels were off, the image was uploaded through a different program, the photo was cropped and upside down, etc. Then comes the press conference mentioned above, linked below..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjsE4AZZgbc

People stood around for a bit like trout out of water, just kinda opening and closing their mouths, then they had to try another something else...Bloggers entrapping, pretending to be underage kids asking for a prom date.... I don't recall any of that coming up in the press conference. It seems the biggest problem the conspiracy theorists have to over come is Anthony Weiner himself....

"I'd like to take this time to clear up some of the questions that have been raised over the past 10 days or so, and take full responsibility for my actions."

I guess to some, Anthony don't realize how big a dupe he was, and he needs to educate himself on his life, before he goes and makes ridiculous statements claiming he was at fault.

any dem bloggers taken down the speaker for his affairs? His nickname is Boner and everyone knows it. Are you telling me their isn't a dem staffer that could tip off someone.

This is why we lose. We never fight Willy Horton with Willy Horton, or taking down Weiner by fighting back and taking down Boner.

It was even repugs that took down Gingrich when he was speaker. Whiich proves my point. How could he lead on impeachment when he was having his own affair? We didn't know that?

Gary Hart, another dem down.

We lose because we are stupid.

40. We never fight. That's the problem. I just watched Thom Hartman interviewing
some RWer about Clarence Thomas. "Should he be impeached? Should he resign?", asks Thom. And the RWer doesn't give an inch. NOT. ONE. INCH.

And yesterday or the day before there were DUers in another thread wringing their hands and boo-hooing because someone posted about having given a RW bigot what-for in a grocery line because the bigot made nasty remarks about the cashier speaking Spanish to a customer.

People were saying the bigot didn't need any more shame heaped on her, and other nonsense, yada yada yada. :puke:

This is war. And liberals are losing it. Well, keep it up, folks. Keep caving. I think Dems have a death-wish.

I'm not mounting a defense of Weiner, and already got slapped around for saying I thought he deserved to go because of the way he left his supporters hanging out to dry.

And I damn well know what entrapment means in a legal sense, but was rephrasing what I thought I remembered the title of the disappeared article to be; I think it used the word "ensnared."

44. "Macbeth" amply illustrates how Free Will trumps Temptation in the Blame-Game.
Banquo questions the Witches' prophecies; Macbeth embraces and, to his downfall, fulfills them, because they play into his desires.

So whether it's a Serpent or a Witch or a Tweeter: A man does what a man wants to do.
