"Long live the struggle of the working class"-chant Spanish protestors.

There have been a lot of threads about Greece, but not very many about Spain so I thought I'd share this article. http://www.marxist.com/spain-massive-demonstrations-of-indignados.htm

1. We discussed Spain in our weekly meeting tonight

Of course our topic was an article that was a month old and these events are changing daily. I'm glad to see that the Spanish situation is focusing more. One reason that it's been hard to get behind it, in more than a general way, is that the Spanish protestors and their demands have been so nebulous up to now. I'm glad to see that the demands are beginning to focus on working class empowerment. THAT will help specify a programme for the anti austerity fight.

It's also good to see that the youth and the unions are getting closer. I actually think that the Greek crisis is influencing Spain and vice versa. The Greeks are more focused on working class issues and the news and focus in Greece I believe is now focusing the Spaniards. And I KNOW that the Greeks were encouraged by the Spanish demonstrations of a month ago. The Greeks were calling themselves Indignados after the Spanish. I think that these two situations are going to feed and encourage each other.

Now it's time to bring in the working classes in the other Euro countries, ESPECIALLY the more developed countries like Germany and France, in solidarity with their brothers and sisters in the less developed countries. And of course, the workers in the other countries that are, or will soon be, facing their own austerity crises.

Solidarity and unity is what we need worldwide.

The slogan isn't the best in the world.

5. It is thought provoking, though.

I did have the same thought, but it made me think about the meaning, which could be important these days.
