How the Right Wing's Worldview Is Torn Apart By Climate Change Science
"Why are conservatives, despite the mounting evidence, so unwilling to accept that climate change is a serious threat caused by greenhouse emissions?"

GOOD QUESTION!

"Industrial capitalism is an economic system predicated on the accelerating extraction and consumption of fossil fuels for energy, which is driving the climate change we face today. To accept this basic premise, one is compelled to question the wisdom of capitalism itself, which is a terrifying notion for conservatives. And it doesn't take long to recognize that conservative values are inherently antithetical to the desperately needed actions to tackle global climate change."

I'm afraid by the time RW's worldview changes, if ever, it'll be too late. They are directly in the way of progress, and that's an understatement.

1. It's been too late for a long time
The only real question now, and one I think the rich and powerful are very aware of and trying to deal with for themselves, is how to survive what is coming. Wonder why the Bushes bought so much land in the higher parts of South America?

Capitalism is dead, if it ever really existed.

Now comes dystopia on a global scale.

Hey, if I'm wrong I'll be happy to admit it. I have two grandkids and fear for their futures.

2. That's exactly it -- the "treehuggers" were right all along. *That's* what they can't stand.
But of course, the consequences of their bitterness and idiocy will now be played out at the end of the mammalian age...

5. Environmental ethics are based on 'The Golden Rule'
The notion that your profits should be lowered to protect your neighbor from your wastes causes major dissonance as the cornerstone ideals of christianity clash with free-range cowboy capitalism.

Well, not really exactly precisely christian...christianity teaches do to your neighbor what you'd tolerate being done to yourself...environmental ethics aren't based on a subjective threshold of tolerance but pretty clearly state' don't generate environmental hazards that will harm other occupants of the planet.'

NOTHING conservative about their policies... not even "conservative culture" is conservative... it's a bullshit lie of a claim from the right.
