Westboro Baptist Protested A Local Church In My Town This Morning.....So I...

....decided to confront them on their turf.. They were protesting a local Christian church that accepts GLBT in to their membership as full member.


I printed up 10 cards last night with the following bible verse....

"Psalm 97:10 O you who love the Lord, hate evil!
He preserves the lives of his saints;
he delivers them from the hand of the wicked.

GOD HATES those who HATE!!"

I walked up to them and handed them the card each in an envelope and said God is Love and left..... Minutes later they called me a blasphemer and told me I would be going to hell....I just kept walking got in my car and blew them a kiss as I drove out.

I am a former assistant Pastor myself.....

But they might have experienced car trouble, for instance, discovering along the way that all the local mechanics were booked solid.

7. I counter-protested them once

Got across from them with two signs - God Is Love and Fred Phelps Is a Wanker. One of them set down his sign and moved to the curb directly across from me (giving me the stink eye) and was waiting for traffic to slow to cross to come talk to me. I don't know if it he was going to talk to me or "talk" to me, but he looked at me (and I lifted weights pretty seriously back then) and went and got another guy to cross with him. They hadn't counted on what I had brought with me to piss them off. It always seemed to me that if you could distract from them, it would piss them off. So as they were waiting to cross, I took out my juggling torches, looked straight at them... smiled my scary smile... and lit them. They quickly went back to pick up their signs while I started juggling.

It worked too. A college kid talked to them and then came over to talk to me, and I filled him in on Biblical history, contradictions, the need to hate shellfish as much as homosexuals... A "minister" - toothless old guy in a truck with a big camper on the back covered with Biblical passages - and his wife stopped and argued with me about the Biblical interpretation of homosexuality while even the media didn't show up to give the Phelps what they wanted.

9. The day is coming Westboro Baptist Church will manage to stir someone or some group best left alone.

The people at Wesboro Baptist church have their problems. There are people out there with much more serious issues. It is a matter of time.

10. I agree. A disabled Vet was already stalking them with a van-load of weapons.

Everybody who heard the story of the Vet's arrest was pretty much cheering for the Vet, heigh ho.
