What kind of asshole do you have to be to steal a ball from a little kid?
Even if you DID catch it, you should have given it to the little tyke.

I was going to post this in "sports" but I think it says a lot about who we are as a country.

5. It was 1978 and I was 7 years old at a MLB game in Kansas City with my parents and brother.

I remember this like it was yesterday. A foul ball was coming right to my brother, who is 18 years older than me, when this guy sitting 2 rows back, jumps over the row in between us and catches it right above my brother's outstretched hand. He turns to his girlfriend/wife and says "Look! It came right to me!" My brother had to be restrained.

whenever the pads come off the field, little kids gather around the front row along the dugout, hoping one of the players will toss them a ball. it's really cool watching the kids faces light up with excitement! this idiot asshole should be ashamed for even ATTEMPTING to get a free ball in such a manner. if i had been there, my friends and i would have ridiculed her until she returned the ball or left the ballyard out of embarrassment.

Giving them away to kids under 12. This was when the "cheapest" Beanie Babies in the city were $22, and most were in the $45-60 range and higher, because a simple plush toy for kids had attracted a legion of the most batshit insane hoarders and speculators (I had a girlfriend at the time who liked them, so I had to scour the city at considerable time and expense)...

Anyway, there was a woman roaming the concourse (with at least two other shills or competitors) falsely promising to give kids ice cream or a happy meal in exchange for their Beanie Baby -- In no time she had three trash bags full of them. Kids cried to their parents, who found security and detained the woman, but the ultimately let her go and let her KEEP the bags(!)...When parents realized the cops did nothing they went to the news...

Seeing greedy, reptilian adults swindle hundreds of trusting kids out of their toys with no punishment forever changed how I saw the world...
