The Speaker’s office said late Wednesday afternoon it had not seen the report, while the Times had already posted a story based on interviews with senior administration officials and citing the report. The Libya document is a response to a House-passed resolution demanding answers to a long series of questions about the operations, including its costs, duration and objectives.
“If the White House intends to assuage Congress’ concerns, they might want to share the report with Congress before leaking it to the New York Times,” a GOP leadership aide said.
In releasing the report to the press around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, the White House said it was “conveyed to all members of Congress today by the Department of Defense.”
