A Tennessean loses a job for one day
Edited on Wed Jun-15-11 04:58 PM by Tippy
Chuck Fleishmann, a Republican congressman from TN, pulled this stunt. May not be a big deal to the Rep, but it's a big deal to someone who lost a day's pay and works two jobs just to make ends meet.

As gas prices have started to escalate with the coming of summer, a number of House Republicans have showed up at local gas stations in their districts to pump gas for constituents, as a part of a stunt to advocate for more oil drilling (which would do little to nothing to lower prices overall).

1. Its not the congressmans fault
The congressman was pumping gas. We don't have gas station attendants today to pump your gas, so the congressman wasn't taking anybody's job.

The owner of the gas station wanted to be there while this was going on, so it was the owner who told the employee not to come in. I would place fault on the owner of the gas station, not the congressman. Its not like Fleishmann was inside ringing people up at the cash register.

2. Hmm. Let's see. Congressman wants to pull a stunt, owner decides to
watch and the person who actually works there is told not to come in losing a day's pay.

And it's not the congressman's fault how?

4. The owner was the one that sent him home
You make it sound like the congressmen was ringing people up, so the employee had nothing to do. The owner decided to come in, when the owner didn't have to, so its the owners fault.

6. Because he was watching the Congressman pull a stunt. Otherwise the owner couldn't be botherded to
actually do the work. It doesn't matter that the congressman wasn't ringing people up. The congressman's presence is the reason that the person who usually works there didn't work there that day. All because the owner thought it would be a kick to watch some dumb ass congressman play pump jockey. The owner obviously didn't bother to actually do the work on a regular basis if his presence at the station was enough to keep the usual guy home for the day. What part of that are you having trouble understanding?

8. I'd have been more impressed if
the pukes would have been changing oil.

On their backs

In the sand

In the sun

No coveralls

In their 3000.00 suits

yep, that would have impressed me.

9. So Keith Ponds and Fleishmann are both assholes!!
Way to go Chuck, my POS congressfilth, and good job to the people in the 3rd congressional district who put him there!! Now if he could just somehow manage to take away a day's pay from everyone in this district, perhaps they would stop voting for these assholes.

Then, again, the district is carved up to ensure a repuke is elected, and that wasn't done by repukes.

10. Further proof Republicans don't give a dam......
Edited on Wed Jun-15-11 06:02 PM by Tippy
Justin Lewis normally spends Friday mornings behind the counter at the Raceway on Signal Mountain Road. Last week his schedule changed with a call from his employer. “I was told not to come in because Chuck Fleischmann was going to be working my shift,” said Lewis. <...>

“I needed that shift, I don’t make $160,000 a year,” said Lewis, “so missing a shift means a lot to me.” <...> “It’s not a Republican issue, it’s not a Democrat issue,” said Lewis, “our economy is suffering, everybody is suffering, work is hard to find, money doesn’t go as far as it used to.”
