Game of Thrones/GOP *spoilers*
Edited on Wed Jun-15-11 02:03 PM by edhopper
Not to give anything away. But last Sunday on the HBO series we saw what happens when snot nosed, lying little shits come to power.
It was like watching a Tea Bagger Governor.

1. It's a good series in reflecting today's problems
through the eyes of the characters, even though the setting is medieval. So sorry that Ned got killed off. He was a good guy and his death will leave a vacuum in the balance of the power structure.

4. It's not really a spoiler.
The book has been out for 15 years, and his death is ultimately a minor plot point.

Besides, rule #1 with ASoIaF is: "The more likeable a character is, the shorter their lifespan will be." Which is commonly shortened to "Only the assholes live."

Edited on Wed Jun-15-11 02:28 PM by EC
so I'm thinking the fight in the end will be the three females. The Dragon girl, the Blond Queen and Ned's wife.

On edit: I did buy many of the books in the series for my nephew, but I haven't read them.

6. Ned was my favorite character. I didn't think they would kill him off so early. I believe that his
son, although young, will fill that vacuum.

9. *Spoiler*
Edited on Wed Jun-15-11 03:14 PM by Naruto Uzimaki
Nope, Ned's oldest son Rob Stark is betrayed by his bannermen, the Freys and get his head chopped off in Book 3 and the Freys sow his wolf's head to his decapitated body during the red wedding. He was suppose to marry a Frey girl but married someone else instead so the Freys were pist off and cut his head off too. Rob Stark was not a major character in the book with no POV chapters. Lady Stark get her throat slashed during the wedding and dies too but she is later resurrected as a wight with sorcery. Ned bastard son, Jon Snow become commander of the Night's Watch. Sansa marries the Imp and Arya trains to become an assassin faceless man in Bravos. Bran heads north to beyond the wall to open his third eye.

17. Do you really have to spoil the entire book series?
Really???

You know that's not cool, right?

Shit, you could at least black out the text for people who DON'T WANT TO HAVE THE FIRST FOUR BOOKS SPOILED IN 30 SECONDS.

21. I love Spoilers
Well, there are only 6 to 11 main character POV in the books and Rob Stark is never one of them, he was always a side character, Catelyn, Sansa, Arya, Jon, Tyrion, Daenerys, Stannis, Davos, Bran, Jaimie & Sam are the MCs. I like how GRRM kills off his characters to move the plot along. Some asked him when the story was going to end and he said "When everyone is dead", paraphrasing.

*Spoiler* Below Highlight!!!!!
Oh Yeah, the Beiber Boy King gets poisoned and dies in Book 3, so there is a little justice.

15. *Spolier*
Yep, she makes it all the way to book four. She trains in Bravos across the narrow sea to be a assassin as was suppose to forget her old life but when she sees a Night's Watch deserter, she kills him as all deserters of the north are suppose to die. As her punishment she is to drink a potion and she falls asleeps, waking up the next day, she is blind. Book five comes out next month so we will see what happens to her and if she gets her eyesight back.

10. Yeah, a lot of dramas set in Medieval or earlier times are really about today.
I definitely count much of Umberto Eco's work, especially "The Name of the Rose."

16. Now this is my favorite show on TV at the moment
damn shame Ned got killed which came as a huge shocker, that little sud ate his
own vomit, just goes to show how coward behaves, they say one thing and then
do another thing entirely.

I wanted to go through the TV and slap the back of his head off.

Reminds of this saying by Shaka Zulu "Never leave an enemy behind or it
will rise again to fly at your throat"

18. You mean Prince/King Bieber Hair?
Edited on Thu Jun-16-11 02:48 PM by Tommy_Carcetti
I haven't gotten the names of everyone on that show down pat yet, so he's Prince/King Bieber Hair to me for now.

And I still call the character played by Aidian Gillen "Carcetti" out of habit and love for "The Wire." So help me.

Decent show....maybe not my favorite HBO drama, but still worth watching every week.

Admit it, the dude has Bieber Hair:

24. Spolier
Edited on Thu Jun-16-11 05:03 PM by Naruto Uzimaki
The first two books is mainly about human north and south men fighting and legends of old but in book three, the Others (Ice People or White Walkers) appear north of the wall and raise the dead (called wights - which can be humans, giants, bears, horses basically anything that was once living) and the seven kingdom has a new magical enemy to fight. The blue eyed ice people are pretty bad ass so I hope the show makes it for several season to see the giants, mammoths, dragons and other magical creatures.

22. You all do realize
I wasn't trying to start a thread to discuss the HBO show. (there is another forum for that)
But rather make an analogy between Joffrey and some of our current GOP politicians.
