Democratic Party Solidarity
WASHINGTON -- House Democrats are counting on growing pressure from Rep. Anthony Weiner's colleagues, a suggestion from the president and the return of Weiner's pregnant wife from an overseas trip to persuade him to resign over a sexting scandal in which he sent lewd photos of himself and messages to several women.

The House's top Republican, Speaker John Boehner, joined the chorus of Democrats calling for the New York Democrat to quit. House Democrats went behind closed doors for their regular party meeting, but they decided against taking action against Weiner in hopes that he'll resign soon.

A fellow member of Weiner's New York Democratic delegation, Rep. Carolyn McCarthy, said before the meeting, "Hopefully, we are hearing he might resign in a couple of days."

When she emerged later, she added: "He's waiting for his wife to come home. That's what we're hearing from his friends."

Thank God we're not like those self-destroying Republicans, eh?

1. I personally just love the scandal.
I feel like it broadcasts a critical message at a critical time: Everybody in Washington DC is a moron, we're on our own

As far as solidarity with Wiener, you've got to be kidding. They guy was sitting there watching the coverage of John Edwards trial and Arnold's love child with his maid, and he decided it would be a killer idea to send naked pics to a bunch of strangers on the net.

Dumb. But then you have the opposition, Breitbart comes across as this guy who collects online dick pics like baseball cards, who we are told by the media to respect. And then you have the media itself, who neglected coverage of Americans suffering the effects of both flooding and tornadoes, who neglected piles of bodies, to focus on this dick and - strait faced, to tell us its something we should take seriously when the whole thing discredits everybody involved with its junior high character.

So the bottom line is, we need this. You and me. We need it to get up out the bleachers, we need it to realize the time has come to stop sitting things out while these "great men" in DC take of our problems, we need it to realize we all have a part to play. And for that, I am grateful. :)

7. He sure looks that way.
That's the thing about this whole affair, there isn't even a pretense of political statement... With the acorn thing they had the pretense of commenting on government waste, with those remixed tapes of that black lady they had the pretense of exposing racism, but with this one he just seems like a paparazzi voyeur... With reps trying to do work in an INCREDIBLY serious time playing the part of A list celebs. He's actually pulling Republicans way off message, which just adds the sense of lunacy and non direction in DC.

2. This is really sad! The dems have solidarity about Weiner??
For two years, the dems couldn't get solidarity over programs to create jobs, real wall street reform or strong universal health care. They had lots of failures getting the traitorous BLUE DOGS TO assist in getting important work done for the country. But, oh they can get behind condemning one of their own who made a stupid mistake. Anthony Weiner does not have a monopoly on stupid in Washington, DC and he should have a chance to redeem himself. It is as so many of us think, the dems are experts at grabbing failure out of the jaws of success. You don't have to be dishonest, deceptive, soulless, psychopathic to achieve success in politics today, you just have to have truth on your side and be willing to stand up for some principles against the men/women who would destroy this nation. Why is the truth so hard to stand by for the dems??

3. With this kind of solidarity, we'll be the minority party forever. Indict Clarence Thomas.

Nice irony in the title, but this article just gives me nausea.
