5-year-old boy gets 200 stitches after dog mauling
Posted: 06/14/2011

LORAIN, Ohio - A 5-year-old boy from Lorain is recovering in the hospital after being attacked by dog near his home.

The incident occurred Tuesday evening in the 900 block of West 14th Street, according to a police report from the Lorain Police Department.

The boy is being treated at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital for injuries to his face and arms, and he has over 200 stitches, according to his grandmother, Patricia Armstrong.

"He was bit in his head, in his face, on his legs, on his buttocks, his arms. He just bit him anywhere he could bite him," Armstrong said.

16. I have a French bulldog and she loves everyone and other dogs
and even cats. I have owned pit bulls and Rottweilers, and all of them have been the sweetest dogs you would ever know. It is all due to the way the dogs have been raised. I will admit that I would never leave a pit bull alone with a child. But I could leave even a newborn babe with one of my Rotties, as they were the most gentle creatures.

Pit bull attacks, kills owner

Print Story Published: 4:16 pm Share Updated: 4:23 pm
Spotslyvania, Virginia (NBC) -- Neighbors of a Spotslyvania, Virginia man are having a tough time believing his dog would turn on its owner and kill him.

Frank Collins is puzzled beyond belief.

“Makes you wonder how you can raise a dog all the way from a puppy and love it and be in the house every day and what would make it turn on an owner like that,” he said.

Investigators say that’s exactly what happened, but are staying tight-lipped on many of the details.

What we do know is that 38 year-old David Haigler was discovered dead Saturday evening by a family member.

5. A neighbor used to let their Pit Bull run free in the streets. . .
They had a couple of little girls -- 8 and 12 -- who would "walk" this beautiful animal on occasion. I say "walk" because the one time I had it on a leash, it was all I could do to keep it from dragging me down the street -- and I weigh over 200 pounds and this magnificent dog was but a pup.

But it couldn't be allowed to run free like that. I have kids, there are other kids in the neighborhood. I and my wife have to walk these streets.

So I called Animal Control. They talked to the neighbor but still, the dog kept getting out of the yard.

The third time I called, I told Animal Control that if the neighbor couldn't manage their dog, the next time I was going to bundle it into my van and take it to the Animal Shelter. They kind of chuckled and told me they'd just have to give the dog back when the neighbor came to claim it. I told them they didn't understand. I intended to drive East with the beast until I needed gas, which I figured would be sometime well after I crossed over the Arizona border, somewhere near Tucson, and there I'd find an animal shelter at which to leave the dog.

That beautiful dog was never allowed out of the yard again, at least, not until they sold it a few weeks later.

They are the ones who let the dog run free.

They should be the ones under the gun.

Fuck a bunch of people who cannot control their animals.

This OP has NOTHING to do with any child running wild. How did you go from an article about an vicious pitbull to complaining about kids running wild in public places?

5 year olds with "zero discipline" don't inflict wounds on other people that require 200 stitches.

Edited on Wed Jun-15-11 11:56 PM by pnwmom
I just strongly disagreed with the assocation. There is no link between people with vicious dogs and people with children who run around in public. You have no evidence that they are the "same people."

Children are not equivalent to dogs. Period. They are ALLOWED to be "loose" in public, just as older human beings are.

Complaining about vicious dogs doesn't logically lead to complaining about children -- except in people who dislike children and look for every opportunity to express this dislike.

15. the owners deny owning this animal
Because of owners like this and insurance rates, landlords across the country are refusing to rent to anyone with dogs of any size or breed: "no pets". Issues with renting is one of the top reason that dogs wind up in shelters or abandoned.

I don't care what kind of dog it is- if its aggressive towards people or other animals, it needs to be caged properly or put to sleep.

Florida man dismembered in attack by neighbor’s dogs

June 12, 2011 7:24 AM
PALATKA, Fla. — A 74-year-old Florida man underwent hours of surgery Saturday in a bid to save his left arm after he was brutally attacked by his neighbor's two dogs, the Gainesville Sun reported.

The victim, Roy McSweeney, had his right arm torn off by the dogs, and had his face and left arm badly mauled in the attack, which occurred in his own front yard.

The animals, owned by neighbor Deanna Blitch, have been euthanized and would be tested for rabies. Police described the dogs as being pit bulls or pit bull mixes.

Police arrived at McSweeney's home in Palatka, Fla. -- about 54 miles (86 kilometers) south of Jacksonville -- at around 11:00am Friday, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said.

They rushed the victim to Shands Hospital at the University of Florida where he underwent hours of surgery and was listed in cr

37. I stand by my solution: Hold pet owners criminally liable for what their animals do.
Your pet kills someone, legally, it should be the same as if you did it. No difference.

Put the owner in prison. End of story.
