A lifetime of sexual weiner jokes could very well have desensitized Anthony Weiner in regards to
his own impression of nudity and his weiner.

Sorry to start a Weiner thread, I've stayed out of it for the most part so far... But there is one thing nobody has mentioned in all this discussion...the fact that, since childhood, Anthony Weiner has probably faced jokes about his weiner, his name Weiner, and every other weiner word there is.

If a kid is in 7th grade and every time he showers at school his friends make jokes like, "Hey! It's Weiner's weiner!" he is sure to have had some sort of emotional response that many of us don't understand. But I can bet you money he has been desensitized OR has a completely different experience in regards to genitalia.

I know some of the ladies on here have been very offended by Weiner sending the pictures. Consider this though: I would bet you money that as early as elementary school, Anthony Weiner has had boys and girls discussing his weiner repeatedly...even if just in a joking way. At what point does this change Weiner's perception of what is acceptable in society? How does it change how he sees his own penis and sexuality?

My guess, from the pictures, is that Anthony Weiner has spent a lifetime of having person after person make jokes about his junk. I would bet there have been 100s of incidents where someone who sees Weiner naked (gym, pool, bed, where ever) have made a weiner joke.

One common thread in all the Weiner posts is that nobody can understand how he could send out pictures of himself like that. How he could NOT see that it was a big deal to send sexual pictures.

My guess is Anthony Weiner didn't think it was a big deal because, his whole life, the conversation has been centered around his weiner. If one person jokes about your junk you are embarrassed, if 100 have done it you start to figure out comebacks and prepare yourself, but if 1000s have done it, including the national media, you probably don't really think much about your junk-it's just a topic of conversation. You either join in and make fun of the junk or you go hide in a cave and be miserable.

If Anthony Weiner doesn't think talking about or showing his junk is a big deal it is because society has forced the guy to either go along with the joke or go hide.

Just something to think about.

4. I used to work with a guy named "Mike O'Kane"
He was the executive assistant to the owner of the company.

About once a week the big boss would lumber through the office hollering "Where's Mike O'Kane? I want Mike O'Kane now!"

It was really hard not to laugh.

9. Not an argument... but I wonder if your friend Richard has ever had women comment on his name
thus blurring what is acceptable conversation in most circles.

But, you are friends with Richard Long so if you are saying nobody has ever made fun of his name/junk I'll believe you. Really, if you say no woman has ever commented, I'll believe you.

13. lol, are you kidding?
actually it is my brother and father. ALL their lives. it does not define them as people. they take it for what it is and tell people to grow up already.

now, both are very big, muscled, well liked and arent messed with too much but the normal joking and teasing that come with that name.

they refuse to go by richard, too. and think it silly when women will switch to richard because they are uncomfortable with dick

8. That is completely silly.

The FAR more plausible explanation is that the man has some self-esteem issues that need to be addressed. Self-esteem issues manifest themselves in myriad ways: overeating, drinking and drug problems, plain old depression, and inappropriate attempts to gain approval. The last manifestation appears to apply to Weiner.

18. The media discusses my junk every time I'm a prominent citizen and I show it to them.
Stop trying to make Weiner a victim, OK?

The guy has a couple of issues to work out, issues that affect MILLIONS in this country. I am willing to bet he has low self-esteem,
and can't see his own value as a human being.

And please, for the love of Christ, don't say, "Low self-esteem??? But he's a CONGRESSMAN! And he has a huge cock!" That doesn't matter in the least. Extremely high achievers often have low self-worth: in fact, high achievement can be a hallmark of low self-esteem.

Jim Hiscock. (absolutely true!)

Which, for him as a kid, must have been even worse than being named Weiner.

He never showed us his hiscock, though.

20. I know...if that's true, then...
by rights I should have been a disease-riddled prostitute.

My initials (before marriage) were V.D.

Well after a certain age, kids learn about stuff...

I was teased unmercifully because of my initials. Some of the neighborhood girls even accused me of sleeping around with every boy in the city and having VD to match my initials.

It wasn't very much fun, but it never affected how I related to anyone sexually.

16. I agree with you.
As a person, who had a name that could be made fun of, I understand what you are saying, although my name fortunately didn't have a sexual connotation. Yet, it's true, you do get desensitized to the mockery.

27. This is actually quite possible IMO
It's so strange how a Congressman could be snapping nude pictures of himself in his office and sending them over the net. He's gotta know that this information would come out at some point, but he didn't seem to care. Maybe he thought it wasn't a big deal at all.

Clearly he has issues and I hope he gets the help he needs.
