If Obama were to load up eight billion dollars in palletized hundred dollar bills
and send it off to Afghanistan to be distributed in some manner to be specified at a later date, do you think Republicans would have anything to say about it? I don't recall Democrats uttering a single word when Bush* did exactly that only in Iraq..Funny how it all sort of dissappeared as well. Who could have ever predicted that?

3. You haven't read the accounts
of entire pallets of US money being left at a specified (by the supposed recipients) place out in the desert, and the Americans simply driving away and leaving it sitting out there for SOMEONE to come along and pick up ???

8. No, there are stories of playing with bundles of hundreds in Iraq.
So, yes, they got there.

But I would like audits of the next ten years of buying power of all the young Republicans who staffed that little effort.

7. you don't recall all the hearings about it?
Henry Waxman, Byron Dorgan come to mind, probably Senate hearings as well. Back in those days, Congress was interested in what was happening in Iraq.

10. vaguely, but I seem to recall those hearings had to be held in a basement

and were not mentioned on MSM. I know I was aware at the time because of Internet blogs such as DU and Buzzflash, but I don't recall hearing anything on the NEWS. I also don't recall what the outcome of the hearings were. Evidently they were not very important because they were hushed up in a hurry.

11. no the hearings were very well known
I often saw Condi Rice, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Bremer being grilled on TV about Iraq. The hearings were even parodied on SNL.

That seems like another era now. Now all this stuff is going on in Libya and Yemen and Pakistan, and we're making decisions about how long we're going to drag out Iraq and Afghanistan, and there's hardly any public debate, hardly any controversy.
