NYT: Obama Seeks to Win Back Wall St. Cash
Lest anyone forget where this President's true loyalties lie:

Obama Seeks to Win Back Wall St. Cash

By NICHOLAS CONFESSORE

Published: June 12, 2011

WASHINGTON — A few weeks before announcing his re-election campaign, President Obama convened two dozen Wall Street executives, many of them longtime donors, in the White House’s Blue Room.

The guests were asked for their thoughts on how to speed the economic recovery, then the president opened the floor for over an hour on hot issues like hedge fund regulation and the deficit.

Mr. Obama, who enraged many financial industry executives a year and a half ago by labeling them “fat cats” and criticizing their bonuses, followed up the meeting with phone calls to those who could not attend.

The event, organized by the Democratic National Committee, kicked off an aggressive push by Mr. Obama to win back the allegiance of one of his most vital sources of campaign cash — in part by trying to convince Wall Street that his policies, far from undercutting the investor class, have helped bring banks and financial markets back to health.

3. I hope that all DUers see this.
I, for one, plan to become very active in my local party politics this fall, and I will be watching Obama carefully. His economic policies stink, in my opinion. The Bush tax cuts for the rich are precisely what is causing the depression in our economy.

5. He doesn't have a choice.
He didn't invent the system but he has to play by it.
He can try to change it but honestly for now, he has to play by rules he doesn't agree with.

7. And with Citizens United, what else can he do? It's a sick a game, but he has no power
to stop it. Supreme Court judges get lifetime appointments, and that, alone is a travesty. No one can hold them accountable.

16. His servility is embarrassing.
He gives the same people who are most directly responsible for wrecking our economy an hour long session to tell him what they want him to do next. Obama listens attentively, takes notes, and sends lovely gifts to the fat cats who would not even deign to give him his orders face to face.
