Weiner issues statement about entering treatment
Edited on Sat Jun-11-11 03:05 PM by pnwmom
In a statement to Politico.com Saturday Weiner said he will not resign from Congress and will instead head to rehabilitation to seek "professional treatment.”

"Congressman Weiner departed this morning to seek professional treatment to focus on becoming a better husband and healthier person,” Weiner’s office said in the statement.

“In light of that, he will request a short leave of absence from the House of Representatives so that he can get evaluated and map out a course of treatment to make himself well,” the statement said. “Congressman Weiner takes the views of his colleagues very seriously and has determined that he needs this time to get healthy and make the best decision possible for himself, his family and his constituents."

4. Yeah. You might be right. But if that's the case, it should be a private thing...
Edited on Sat Jun-11-11 03:14 PM by SidDithers
Some form of couples counseling, I could understand. But what we've got here is a guy thinking with his dick. There ain't no "treatment" for that.

What he did was inappropriate. It's not an illness.

deeply ashamed of his behavior.

What particular illness does he have?

Unbridled stupidity and narcissistic arrogance? How is that an illness?

12. Though I am disgusted and
disappointed by his behavior, I am more outraged by the calls for resignation. NOT excusing him, he needs tx, or whatever it takes; HOWEVER, I would like folks to think about this...Clinton: bs allegations Whitewater, Foster, travel office, etc. Spitzer: closing in on AIG, big banks and their fraud. BUSTED! Wiener: closing in on Clarence Thomas. BUSTED. NOT that any of them should not have come under the microscope but think about it! Anyone with an "R" by their names, have gotten a free pass for much worse actions.

This story explained A LOT to me!

13. Weiner is saved.
Weiner has found Jesus. He denounces his Jewish religion and is saved by Jesus and gives up tweeting for Lent.

16. The man was railroaded. He deserves our thanks for exposing Clarence Thomas.
The rest is his business, and we should show compassion and tolerance, even about things that we would not, ourselves, do.

and yes, I hope he gets some help. If I were making a recommendation to him, I'd suggest a 30 day Dathun.

24. Once he started raising Clarence Thomas' crimes, he had his ticket on the Orient Express punched.
Hope you don't think this was all just a coincidence that Breitbart, Russert, and the rest of the MSM made it a 24/7 obsession when they did, do you?

26. I think it's codswallop.
and I think if he'd been a repub they would gleefully have gone after him in the same way. It's Weiner's fault. No one put a gun to his head and made him engage in behavior he knew would cause a hell of a scandal were it found out.

17. What a slippery snake.
Woods goes into rehab for sexual addiction, following a long line of slimes who attempt to get a pass because theirs is a psychological problem rather than pathetic character.

In a political sense, it's a smart move. How better to escape the media, public and returning colleagues than hide in a rehab center.

Chuck Shumer, it's time to give your long-time protege the heave-ho.
