Cops: Baby may have eaten marijuana
The comments are interesting:

LONGMONT — Longmont police say an 11-month-old baby who was taken to a hospital because she was lethargic may have ingested medical marijuana.

The Daily Times-Call reports police are weighing whether to pursue charges against the mother for putting the child in a dangerous situation.

Cmdr. Jeff Satur says the baby may have ingested marijuana when her 17-year-old mother was visiting a friend’s home.

The baby was taken to a hospital June 2 but has since been released. Hospital officials told police the baby’s symptoms were consistent with either ingesting cannabis or exposure to large amounts of smoke.

1. This hospital must treat a lot of stoned babies.
Considering they know the symptoms so well.

2. Indeed.
I once knew a 2-year-old who accidentally ingested a hit of acid (not my kid, by the way) back in the late '60s. We called the San Francisco Free Clinic and asked them what we should do, and the advice was "help him have a good trip." So we did, and he never got upset (just didn't go to bed for a while). The next day he was fine and never said a word about the strange things he saw.

I'm not saying it's a good idea to give your kids acid, of course, but in this case, the advice and nonintervention worked.

3. Are you kidding me? The Free Clinic really said that you should help

5. I know.
It was kind of shocking, but really the very best advice.

4. If they raise the child well from here on out,
they may eventually receive a thank you note.

6. I'm not especially concerned.
The kid gets stoned, then gets the munchies. I think he'll survive the experience.

But the cops and the prison-industrial complex have to get their panties in a wad...
